I woke up early the other morning and did not feel well. I was short of breath. I had DS take me to the ER. I was worried the pulmonary embolism was back even though I am on a blood thinner, but nope, this time it is severe mitral regurgitation. The mitral valve needs repair or replaced. I was admitted, but went home the next day because they could not fit me in their schedule for the tests, and have to get them done outpatient. I will be going Tuesday to have a TEE and right and left heart cath to decide what needs to be done. I am calming down about that. I have never been put under anesthesia.

The choices of how they could fix it would be robotic repair at Sacred Heart in Spokane or open heart to repair or replace and if they find any clogged arteries they will fox those during the open heart. If I am in bad shape then I guess they can fix it through the groin and clip it, but they said it might not last. The robotic and the open heart they put you on a heart and lung machine, so all of this is like shocking and terrifying. I am trying to be calm. It helps when i hear people tell me not to worry and they have been put under anesthesia or had procedures like this.

DD and her husband took the plants all out of the metal boxes for me going to come back and do some more work to get the garden put to bed for the winter. I had just bought bags of composted chicken manure and bedding and I was going to put that on each box before winter.

Maybe next spring I will be feeling really good. This just happened I think because I have never had shortness of breath. The shortness of breath is gone because they gave me Lasix and I got rid of fluid. I am just weak and tired now. Crazy how things can happen so fast.
:hugs:hugs
Really hoping for a solution for you very very soon

I am not sure if DW wasn't having a little fun with me with regards to breakfast choices. She bought a box of Reese's Puffs.

Halloween came early? I have them with a chopped half a peach, Crispix mixed in, and 2 strawberries on top :). The oolong is a good choice alongside ;).

Had to be out earlier and Venus was so bright down our East/West road. Quiet but today will be a "red flag" day, the Weather Service tells us. Wind gusts above 30mph and 81⁰f (27⁰C), smoke and dust! I wonder what fires we have to the SW ..? Sounds like a good day to stay indoors!

:hide edit: dang! The national map of the USA makes the NW look like it's on fire. 19 "large, active fires"

Fire season in the Pacific Northwest, especially Oregon, typically starts in mid May or June and can last thru late Sept-Oct, ending ending with the first significant rains of fall. However, the specific start and end dates are highly dependent on weather conditions, with factors like drought, snowpack, wind events, and lightning strikes influencing the length and severity of fire season each year. And homeowners fire insurance premiums are ridiculous.
It’s winding down here a bit here in Oregon, the sky is no longer smoky .

@Shades-of-Oregon , it looks as though the smoke we can expect to have will just be from the Columbia Basin filling with smoke as the winds pick up.

We must have been getting something of a benefit here from smoke going higher in the atmosphere ooorrr, blowing north into British Columbia. I haven't learned how to look for air quality in Canada.

Air quality locally has only just hit the Good/Moderate line. Blue skies and no wind. Dang, I don't want to see blowing dust! We have to understand that the Palouse Hills were formed by wind out of the Basin. Loess soil not only easily erodes into rivers, it will be moved by the wind.

@Gardening with Rabbits, first 🙏🙏🙏. I am adding this to my DD/my prayer list, we pray most M-F's over the phone.
Secondly, DH had suffered several heart attacks, Finally he went to the ER in 2006, ALMOST 20 years ago, and had a successful triple bypass. HE had clogged arteries.
Though no robots at that time, they used a machine to substitute for his heart during the procedure.
That hasn't changed.
Recovery is time consuming, BUT, I believe that this is your Best option.

Thank you for the information. I had the TEE and right and left heart cath on Tues. They did not find any clogged arteries. Everything fine except the mitral valve. They set up the appointment for Oct. 29 and DD told me to call them back and get on the cancellation list. All of that was yesterday and this morning I got a call there was a cancellation and I am to see the surgeon on Oct. 1. I will find out which procedure I am to have. I am staying pretty calm. I want it fixed and I will put up with whatever has to happen. When they were getting me ready for the TEE they put a bite block in my mouth and said some people break their teeth biting too hard and I was thinking I hope I don't bite this and that was the last I remember and I woke up and the TE done, so the fear of being put under has gone away, but the heart and lung machine still worries me, so thank you for that information about your husband. Thank you so much for adding me to your prayer list.

The winds were not as strong as predicted.

😯 That has to be just about a first. Really. Usually, I can just about count on the Weather Service recording, actually recording !, wind gusts 5-10 mph higher than they predicted 12 hours before. It's okay 🤤 👍. I'd rather be a little anxious about what could be unpleasant conditions and then be left with the feeling that i got out of the problem without it being much of a mess.
