Woke up to take puppies out yesterday night at 4:30 and there was a inch of snow and blowing to beat the band.
I had to shovel the steps--good thing I had staged my snow shovel on Saturday--and salt it. Three inches before the storm was over at 9AM, then 1/2 of it melted. We expect more snow today, then a high of 72 on Saturday.
Puppies are easily distracted and More distracted by the snow. We had few accidents today...on the rug...

Our weather, here on the western side of the Rockies at 48⁰N latitude, I will describe as "unpleasant." The wind gusts are above 30mph with these frequent smatterings of rain. This has continued and is expected to continue 🙄.

Temperatures are staying above freezing, on a very short thermometer.

We are significantly past our first snow date, the news people tell us. That is okay with me. A drop of just a few degrees with this much wind and frequent precipitation — I think I would be searching for an escape route.

@digitS' we get long periods of cloudy weather some winter season's where the sun isn't out much for quite a long time. my sister lives out west because she says that the gloom bugs her and the more sunny weather out west works much better. it doesn't bother me and i guess i am used to it the same way that living up north for all of those years where it might snow a little bit every night for weeks at a time. it's just how it is and i don't worry about it - when the sun finally does come out and you get some clear weather it is so bright and sparkly! :)

and in the meantime California is finally getting some good rains to the south which also will probably be flooding in areas due to fires and mudslides and general mayhem. in the end though what i really hope for is a really big inflow to the Salton Sea and a lot of snow in the mountains for their water supply for spring and into summer and then also perhaps some of that will also make it to Colorado for the Colorado River basin upstream and then a big wish would be enough rain at the other end that would get the Colorado River to flow again even if it is only at the bottom part in Mexico.
