Organic gardening 2025

The feed store has some big totes that had horse feed in it so I will try to get some of those and will look around for what else I can use. I asked my son in law to ask at the store he is working for the cake and frosting buckets. I also have a lot of big planters to use for the garden. I also have some grow bags for the garden.
If it looks like this:
Those are great for growing. I took a piece of rebar to a fire in my fire pit and made a drainage hole in the middle of the bottom of a pot that didn't have one. Makes a nice clean hole in plastic.
IF I bought one of these it might not survive my QH Buster Brown, after the two geldings had consumed the contents.
You are lucky to find these.

Those are very similar to the ones that I will be using. I'm not sure how big they are but yes that's the ones I have.

Went to the doctor today. Got to start checking my BP 2 times a day every day. Need to quit smoking 😵‍💫. Other than that I got some steroids to combat the pressure in my lungs. I will just be patient and get my stuff together to be able to get the pictures to share and get the garden going

I quit smoking 50 years ago and it was super easy, once i stumbled onto something that worked.
As a Machinist your hands are oily a lot which would get on the smokes making them taste bad so i went looking for a way to fix that problem.
Living in Odessa Texas at the time i went to a tobacco shop to buy a pipe SO I COULD SMOKE MORE. Or that was my thinking at the time; clench the pipe in my teeth and my hands could be really dirty and it wouldn't affect the smoking.
The first thing the proprietor ask me was;”are you here to quit smoking” to which i laughed and told him my “wanna smoke more story”.

Then we got to the good part where he pointed out how many folks came to him to quit; both men and women.
He explained that American smokes were loaded with sugar and glycerine which contributes to both the cancer AND the addiction.
Well, i listened to him but continued to buy a pipe and a couple kinds of tobacco when he finished explaining why his products helped folks quit smoking. Apparently everything in his shop was “no chemicals / organic tobacco”.

Anyway i hauled all that stuff home all proud of my new pipe and began smoking away. Then in about a week i noticed i was only smoking the thing after supper and a few times at work; this continued for about two months. Then at one point i told my wife, why dont you just throw this stuff away when i go to work today because for all practical purposes “I’ve quit smoking”!

And like i said, that was 50 years ago. And to this day cigarettes still smell bad to me and i’ve never picked one up OR wanted to.

Bear in mind the important part is the tobacco, dont just go to the grocery and buy some bag stuff because it’s go’t the same junk in it.

50 years ago we didnt have computers or i-net but with all that now days better tobacco would be easy to find, if it’s not locally available.

And lastly, it wouldn't be right for me to put all this to words without adding a big “Thank you Lord”, for pointing me in all the right directions way back then!

I’ve told this story at least 50 times over the years and always get a deer in the headlight look and to date no ones ever came back to tell me “i tried that and it worked”. What a shame.

There's already a tobacco out that's supposed to be chemical free but I will have to check into it.

Quitting sugar in all forms and most grains will help. The vast majority of Americans diets continually feed and propagate Candida in your gut which causes numerous health issues. In the late 70’s the first Naturopath we ever saw told us “don't make orange juice, just eat the orange” as an example of eliminating all processed food. We’ve been working at this all these years and know how hard the food addictions are for folks and most don't even realize there’s a problem.
It blows people’s mind when i tell them we eat the same exact thing every day of the week! Only our evening meal deviates. The meat and vegetables rotate thru but are exactly the same on they’re “day of the week”.
Being empathetic not mean i’ll tell you, good luck! Bear in mind everyone in the house has to be on the same page or your wasting your time!

The diet of a spouse can be an influence.

My and my wife's diets are similar. No, they are not exactly the same but difference can be a bother and, because of that, are limited if not eliminated.

Over years, I tried quitting tobacco many times. One time was when I first met the lady who became DW. She was strongly opposed to smoking. I had it so very much associated with work, entertainment and the outdoors, her attitude was something I just worked around. Nah. I wanted to be an ex-smoker and her emotional response to my relapses were a good motivation.
