my inlaws have some peach trees, and we've gotten some of the pits... we've tried to grow trees from them before and it hasn't worked.. is there a trick to it? i have six right now that are drying out at room temp..
i've read that bamboo is considered a tree - so i thought i'd put this here. has anyone used bamboo as a fence? we want to put something along our tree line b/c the trees are thin and our dogs bark their heads off at everything. we also want to put some around their dog lot for extra shade...
we are finally getting fruits and veggies! our squash plant (well my husband's i don't like squash) died b/c *i think* he didn't weed well enough and it got chocked out. but we found four watermelons today, i got three tomatoes last night and can see some tee tiny baby cantalopes on the vine...
i asked an aunt of mine and she said to spray water on the plant, then put self rising flour on it. when the beatles eat it they expand and explode b/c of the flour. we're doing to do a combo of that and seven dust.
our chickens are in the back of the house and this raised bed is in the front.
i might try the soap spray when it cools off some later tonight.
thanks - they are eating my cannas - little holes everywhere on the leaves :-(
days later and i'm still out pulling grass every evening when it cools down. my 'large' bed around the hot tub is covered with it (sounds like crab grass)
i might try painting it like your mom did. that way i won't have to be out there every night. seems like i pull one and three more come...
i have three year old leaf mulch in them. even the veggie garden. ug i dread pulling it all up. it was under control until we had a ton of rain. i need to put down a good layer of DE first so i can make sure all the fire ants are dead.
