    Storing potatoes

I never thought about the variety. I have been using Yukon Gold potatoes for the last couple years. They are a thin skinned and taste like butter :D Thanks for the replies so far. It looks like I am doing it right, something just didn't work out :/

    Storing potatoes

Yes. Both. But not wet-mushy. Just soft and shriveling. I didn't wash them either :/ We were thinking of keeping them in buckets covered in dirt but who wants to carry dirt down in the basement??? Maybe a try of dirt would be easier?

    Storing potatoes

I just finished eating a store-bought baked potato because when I went to get ours, they were in too bad of shape to eat :( They made it a few months in a sack in our cellar but there must be a sure-fire way to keep potatoes longer. I fed alot to the chickens today. Id rather feed me ;) What...

when are my tomatoes going to ripen

I've eaten a few cherry tomatoes, literally a couple :D But yes, it has been cool this year. Everything seems to be late :( Keep the faith. If they are there they are bound to ripen eventually!

    Urine as a liquid fertilizer....

Wouldn't that depend on what the intake is  I received a tour of a large city waste treatment facility last spring. Guess what they do with the solids..... apply it to farm fields! The treated "water" goes back into the rivers to soak back into the aquifers so that the water may...

    Pruning trees in summer?

I've got quite the assortment. A few walnuts, hackberrys, oak, cottonwood, and various evergreens. Years ago I remember my dad using a tar like substance on trees that he limbed. Wasn't that used to seal the open tree?

    Pruning trees in summer?

I am losing skin every time I mow my yard this year :( Can I remove a few limbs this time of the year? (June for those that will read this using the search feature in the future) I am sick of ducking and getting ripped up. :P

will killing the grass kill my plants?

My mother's strawberry bed was just getting over taken by crab grass. Crab grass had long runners and deep roots. Almost impossible to pull completely. She brushed Round-up on the grass. Using a small brush carefully "paint" the chemical on the grass leaves. It doesn't stay with the soil...

    Existing Compost?

This is an odd question because more questions are HOW to make compost. My step son started a job this summer working for a local city. They happen to have a city compost pile at the landfill site. Cool! I like a city that takes it's trash and turns it into treasure :) Well, he surprised us...
