Brokedown, if its the papper filter, sure, toss it in to. I use a brown screen reusable filter, so dont have to worry about that.

Hand picking is not an option, there are just way to many of them. The board might work, i worry about letting the chickens loose in the garden because im afraid they would dig up the roots.

i have an infestation of these little bugs, the young ones are light grey/blue, triangular shaped with black legs, as they get older they are grey to brown . Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

I have beautifull larg squash plants, only problem is many of the plants are not producing any fruit. They are flowering prolifically but nothing else. What could be the cause of this and how can i help them produce better? ill try to get some pictures up.

to use the DE on your plants and get the best coverage, take a cup or 2, put in a gallon water sprayer, fill with water shake well to mix. Spray the tops and bottom of the leaves, the stems, the DE will stick to the plant and stay when it dries. Keep shaking the waterer as you spray to keep it...
you know you could do a nice white row of collums down the center of the garden conected with a 8 foot 2x4, dress it up a bit and drap bird netting or chicken wire from side to side and would still look nice but still protect your garden.

not sure if you have to deal with other predators, but possibly fencing in the garden might be better. Double duty, keeping the chickens out and other birds and animals?

I live in zone 8, its very hot and has been extreamly dry. The soil around our property is very poor, lots of sand ....
i want to try to build up the soil, going to send in a sample for testing also.
I have a tiller, should i till the area of the yard, add wood chips, manure and such...
i think for mine, i will till and then dig that 4 inch out, line it with chicken wire then build over it and put that soil back with more.

It looks like you direct seeded in the hoop house, how did you transplant them to the big garden? I have a great place im getting ready for some greens, i cant wait.
