    A Tip for Cutworms

Wow, I'll have to try that. I have heard of using cardboard rolls cut short around new plants. The toothpick idea is much simpler!

    Stinkbugs everywhere in the garden

I have problems with stinkbugs in my garden. They cause tomatoes to get yellow spots that don't ripen correctly. They are also on my peas! Any suggestions for getting rid of them?

    rabbits! - UPDATE: Ha!

My first garden at our current home was consumed by rabbits. We had a fence similar to chainlink. We added 3 ft of poultry netting along the bottom and then buried flashing about a foot deep to keep them out. I have had pet rabbits and they can chew through many things--wood, and extension...

Ever work so hard you couldn't stop? I kinda feel high...

We have had a very pleasant spring, and I have been taking advantage of it to get yard projects done. I can hardly move come Monday morning when I have to return to work! But I sure love the results I'm seeing in my yard!

I am sooo jealous. I live in central south Texas. We have the greatest concentration of hummers in September during their fall migration. Just south of me in Rockport, Texas, they have a hummer/bird festival in the middle of Sept. I will sometimes be lucky enough to have a dozen at my feeders...

    Advice for Clay Soils

During the dry summertime, I am thankful to have my clay soil. My Dad lives about 10 miles north of me and has sandy soil. He has to start watering far sooner than I! However, during a rainy spell, I often lose plants because they are too wet! I constantly add compost, lawn clippings etc. to my...

    Herbs

I have tried many different herbs. I consistently grow parsley, cilantro (I love the flavor in pico de gallo), dill (mostly for the swallowtail butterfly caterpillars), sweet basil (love to make pesto), oregano, and rosemary. I also grow fernleaf lavender. The traditional English and French...

    Texas

Howdy, I am in Victoria, Texas. It is known as the Crossroads--between San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Houston. I have lived here all my life-42 years. I have always had some sort of garden as did my mom and Granny!
