I bought a few habanero plants a few weeks ago. They are growing fine but I noticed they are covered with tiny white and pinkish bugs. Are these afids? How can I get rid of them without harsh chemicals?
I've heard a solution of water and dish soap sprayed on the plants will get rid of bugs but...
That would be great if you wanted to trade some cuttings. I'm haveing a heck of a time with the rosemary seeds, so I'm going to get a live plant instead. I'll send you the whole pack if you want it.
If you have a local flea market or farmers market, you can check there. I have a local flea market every sunday and there are always people selling flowers, veggies and herbs there.
My mom's got lots of forsythia that she said I could have for free. I've heard how easy it is to transplant it. Supposedly, you just cut off new growth after it is done flowering and then stick it in the ground and it's supposed to form a new bush by itself.
Does anyone have any experience...
I've tried germinating rosemary from seed too and I've not had success with it. The seed packet I have says they germinate after at least 14 days in soil of 70* F. That might be the problem. Maybe your soil is too cold or your soil is too wet. If the soil is too wet, the seeds will rot before...
Throw a tilling party!!!
Ask all your friends and neighbors over for a BBQ and ask them to bring a shovel or other tilling hand tool.
Feed them free BBQ for the price of them helping you till and turn over your garden. If you get 30 people out there, the tilling will be done in no time.

yeah I think that is my problem. This is the first year I'm really putting some effort into it and I keep having problems. I'm motivated to get this right so I just keep trying. The first time, the soil temp was too cold, and the second time, there was too much moisture. This time, I'm going to...
I've been trying to germinate seeds this years and having problems. So I've been researching and found some tips on prevent dampening off. So I wanted to share. Aparently, chamomile tea can be used to prevent dampening off. I think I'm going to try that.
Here's a link...
I've got about 40 seeds that I bought a couple years ago. I don't know if they're any good. I planted a few this year to see if they'll grow; that was just last weekend so they haven't germinated yet. If you want some of these seeds, PM me and I can send you some. Or you can check ebay. That's...
I found this info on the web and figured it was good basic info for newbies.
Step 1:
Choose fresh seeds to start with. The germination rate of seeds declines with time. Seeds stored over winter from the previous season may not germinate at all. If you have to store seeds for any period of time...
