Oh I'm so sorry for your loss, Jojo! Do you have anyone local to you who might loan you a game camera? One that can take decent pictures at night could solve your ID problem.
No more onions. I've tried four varieties over two years and can't seem to get the hang of them. Will probably use that space to try cubanelle peppers and maybe some kind of bush bean. Cinnamon basil was interesting, but I just don't go for it as much as other types. Will likely only plant two...
Thanks! Well, I should have gotten a pic of it before this heat wave, it was prettier. It's looking kind of beat up at the moment. I should just pull it and dry it already.
I did cinnamon basil last year and it did very well. Though I won't be planting it again as I wasn't fond of the sharp taste. This year I have genovese, african blue, and red rubin.
I definitely use gloves when doing any digging, planting, or weeding. Harvesting, not so much. I also prefer the cloth/rubber ones. They're nicely grippy and they breathe.
Thanks, lesa! I knew I was saving all those paper bags for a reason. ;) My basil plants are going crazy, so I think I should give this method a try this weekend.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing pics. Our house came with some extensive perennial beds, with lots of fun plants including several kinds of iris. But no roses! My second year here, I planted two rugosas in front of our livingroom windows, and they are doing great. I may be jinxing myself here, but...
Thank you everyone. Wow, I never realized how many varieties of iris there are! I could spend years just getting familiar with the basics. Foliage behavior, eh? I had no idea.
Carol Dee, I am determined to get the significant plants in my yard labeled because I'm basically a beginner gardener...
Any iris lovers here? I'm on a labeling spree and would love to have the proper names for these two. The stems of the yellow one are about 2 feet tall, and the stems of the other one are close to 3 feet tall. Help?
Planted black cherry and sungold tomatoes, red rubin and sweet basil, jalapenos, tricolor sage, variegated oregano, and golden creeping thyme.
Next project will probably be to clean out a bed for some strawberries.
