We are 3 days in and have been so many places and seen some really neat stuff. We started out at Carlsbad Caverns and then drove to out campsite. Unfortunately the Forest burned the year before so there wasn't much to do. We went to Sante Fe yesterday and hiked the Santa Fe trail then to our...
We talked about heading that north too. But, decided that was for another time. Maybe when the kids are around (they're with Grandparents on vacation).
This was a last minute decision since DH got vacation time. It doesn't happen often so we're having a belated honeymoon (11 years, later)!
@Carol Dee there's still a Reservation at Apache Junction? I think that was one of our maybe places but, didn't seem like a lot to do. I'll look up Tortilla flats just the name alone makes me giggle. :)
DH and I are taking a camping/hiking/backpacking trip sans children for 15 days starting Wednesday. We are looking for interesting/neat things to do in Arizona and New Mexico. I figured with as many people as we have all over someone can give me ideas!
1st stop is Tombstone anything after that...
I had an entire lobe of my lung removed in December. The doctors found a mysterious spot that kept growing. It wasn't cancer but, I went through 3 rounds of radiation trying to kill/shrink it. It didn't work and I had to have a VATS procedure done. If the chemo and radiation don't help it may be...
No TV here either. We have a computer that DH download movies to and Netflix. We have a radio in the kitchen that we listen to regularly usually while dinners cooking. The kids and DH have iPods (sometimes I'd like to throw them out the window). And we have smartphones. I necessitate the use of...
In the year we've been here I don't think I've seen any if those things. We have beetles, scorpions, white moths and regular ones, butterflies. They may exist but, not in my yard. Aphids have been a problem this year.
I'll look at the other thread. I can't in good conscience glue their wings. She brought them home and handed them to me and said they were free. Hopefully they'll stay if not my feelings won't be hurt. I think I've seen maybe 10 ladybugs in the year and a half we've been here.
@valley ranch I was asking about you. I know there are some New Mexico people around. We're closer to that than the rest of Texas. I was going to ask for some places to camp. :)
The birds (even the chickens) stay away from them. They land on the top but, don't mess with the berries. I wish we could have found a longer piece for more plants but, that's for another time.
You live in New Mexico right?
