Doesn't look like that around here. All white and icy. I love seeing the early flowers.

So, major, your veggies are doing really well. Is this normal for this time of year or is the covering more standard. What is your normal January daytime temperature?

I am loving this warmer then usual weather so far, but the last time we had a warm winter we were hit with an extremely severe drought the following summer. I'll take all the cold iff'n I can get my garden working properly during the summer.

Great photos, major. Here, a little north of you, it is sunny, at least, but seasonably cold....about 38 degrees.

Or maybe I'm not north of you.....

our veggies are doing rather well this year due to the "mexico vortex" it has been very unseasonal warm...so far
this time last year it was in the low 40's as a high the lettuce, bok chio was fried. this year we have been in the 50-70 as a high and the grass is just the prettiest green. the violets, forget me nots and primrose should be asleep till springtime...

to answer your question everything should be brown and frozen..... not green and lush.. and yes everything should be under plastic.
with that said according to the 10 day we are supposed to start dropping in the next 4 days with some chance of snow after the 11th.
might have to harvest the lettuce this tuesday the low is going to be around 22* but that's at the airport....

all i ask for no more mass quantities of rain...here or anywhere..

Now it's finally gotten cold here today... But my perennials have started to poke up through the soil. I'm seeing a lot of fungi out too. This weather has been good news for my bees though. Not much die-off this winter and the hive sounds very strong.

Can't believe your grass is going to seed! The weeds will definitely have an advantage this year. :ep

We are hoping the warmer temps will help the bees. We have not had much luck over wintering them the last 2 winters.
