You mean that Arizona, Nevada, and California can't just have the gates opened north in ... uh ... north ... down the coast ... bring it thru Yosa Mite ? Bringing from some place north like ... uh ... Alberta! Oh yeah. Bring it in with the petroleum!

as much as possible you want gravity to do the work for you when it comes down to moving large amounts of water. look at the size of the canals they have for the amount of water they are moving. the pipelines and pumps for oil just are not big enough in comparison. check out these links:

Good to know that it continues; I was wondering about that gardening club, @flowerbug .

Freezing again this AM. I haven't any concerns about this but will need to have water off etc. before it's much colder. Of course, garden clean-up is anticipated with lots of organic material to be buried.

Yesterday was a beautiful, blue sky day. The temperature rose to above 50⁰f (10⁰C). The Weather Service has an accounting of the recent rain that stretched over 3 days and yes, it was above 1/2 inch. There wasn't quite as much wind as they anticipated and it came earlier and ended sooner. That helped for plant life. "Wind chill" was named for humans and to alert us to the needs of livestock and pets. But, it is a reality for all life on Earth.
