Yep. Works like a charm! Especially nice if you have a type of veggie that doesn't set the whole entire crop at once--I had some pole beans like that, they produced slowly only a few handfuls at a time. It was nice to be able to freeze a quart at a time, and I ended up with some ridiculous amount of pole beans in the end.

I use the microwave for blanching creamed corn. It's so much easier to remove kernels and milk the cob if the ears aren't hot. But then it tends to scorch easily if heated on the stove.

Interesting... I try not to use my microwave for "cooking" food- keep reading conflicting reports about safety. So after you blanch in microwave, do you still have to cool the food with ice water? Not seeing that mentioned in the articles...
