I went to the nursery yesterday, as I lost some of my tomatoes and peppers to high winds. I only had 3 bell pepper plants left, and 6 tomatoes. I was crushed. :(

So I go and grab 2 packs of 4 tomatoes and 1 pack of 4 yellow bell peppers. I got to check out and it rang up $4.50. They have a minimum of $10 to use my credit card! So I had to get more (though I was grinning ear to ear at that point).

In all, I bought 33 plants for $12.40 (that's with tax).

Most of that was tomatoes and peppers, some watermelon my daughter wanted and 3 flowers.

So now I have Purple Cherokee, Brandywine and Sweet 1000 cherry tomatoes in the garden.... along with chayenne peppers, purple and yellow sweet peppers, crimson watermelon and several red flowers that I forget what they are called. It was a PAIN to find enough space because I soooooooooooooo over did it!!!

These were NOT sale prices either... these are regular prices on their own grown veggies from their greenhouse. Or I could have bought the Burpee starts at $2.98 per plant!!???!?! WOW! What a deal!

Awesome score! This was a locally owned nursery selling their own plants? Even better

Good deal! I always do better at the little mom-n-pop local nurseries or the feed and seeds. They have more interesting varieties than ol' Wally World or Lowe's too!

I was really impressed because the brandywines were so HUGE! No stunted growth and were probably bigger then most of the Burpee Tomatoes they sold individually. How strange.

I do know they will mark down the veggies at the end of June... or they did last year. So I will get more then and hope for some late developing tomatoes in the fall from those. :)

Apparently I need to go to Fuquay to hit up the nursery!! We NEVER have prices like that around here! Of course... I don't even think we have a nursery other than one for trees and mulch up the road! LOL

Vfem..I can't believe those prices. Thats .37 cents a plant and not even on sale? You do have space for them and so much more. I've seen pictures of all that space and I just drool and think "she can put another bed over there". ;)

I drool thinking about the beds I could put in! hahaha

I was to add 7 more beds this year, and only could afford to add 3. In the fall we'll try to get those other 4 in. I already have cats using them as litter boxes right now because we couldn't add fencing :he

Oh well, something to look forward to in 2012 :thumbsup

Again though, poor hubby. I have watermelon and tomatoes planted in the front and side gardens again which I PROMISED would be flowers and shrubs only from now on with the addition of new beds. Ok, I lied! :bouquet (It's better to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission.)
