Yea, I think you should thin them to 6" on center. You'll get a better yield, believe it or not, from properly spaced plants.

I post in 'beds' rather than rows, so I consider spacing on center. Yours may be a bit close, but if your soil is well prepared, I think they'll do fine - plus every seed doesn't germinate. Beans are pretty forgiving :)

Nachoqtpie, you sound like the gardening is in your blood - as it is in mine and so many others here! For your beans, how close is 'too close'? I plant mine 3" apart around my bean trellis, but I try to keep them 6" on center for bush beans.

They are, but not very long lived. I do know a guy who I used to work with who had a tomato plant that was three years old, he grew it in his cube, which was next to a bank of windows. It was a treat if he gave you a nice, ripe fruit in the middle of January! :drool

Yes, you can root suckers and grow new plants, that's a great way to do it if you've got the season for it.
