I've gotten into collecting wild "common persimmons" as of last year. There are a few huge, older trees out in the woods, and many other younger trees that are not putting on fruit yet. I have them timed to be putting on rip fruit right as the garden dies off. Our wildlife absolutely love them...

We planted our beans awhile back @murphysranch and I just wanted to share what they looked like back on the 16th. From what I've seen, every single one has come up (that's more than I can say for the store-bought zucchini, yellow squash, and "heirloom" okra from the hardware store) EDIT: Well...

The garden is 100% planted, and we are blessed by the rain keeping the seeds sprouting!

Makes me think about an article I read awhile back where a woman picked up this mangy, sickly and starving looking dog and brought it in a crate in her house to rehab it. When she went to take to shelter/vet or something like that, they realized it was a coyote. :idunno

@dewdropsinwv - I agree with others here on setting the food out and just giving it some time. Curious chickens will be wary, but go out first. The others will follow when they have time to realize it is safe!
