@flowerbug , I should add that I STill have some of the garlic that you sent me a few years ago!! I have killed off Some of my garlic, but garlic is TOUGH. I know that my friend insists that her garlic is a nuisance invasive, but I get a lot of wild onion and I have learned to love it when it...

2026, My year of Garden Narcissism

I Thought I had no garlic. Wrong. Yesterday I transplanted 25 errant White Porcelain Garlic--I remember sticking them next to the fenceline as tiny things last year, and 50 small Italian Garlic. Growing them on the east side of the house doesn't get enough sun. I figure if they aren't big...

    Eating Well on a Budget

@Phaedra , do you ever make bread from high protein flour? I have 1/3 packages of this stuff that I need to use up. The First loaf was delicious, the 2nd loaf was bitter--I added extra sugar and honey to the first loaf. ALSO, they just didn't really rise much, even though I doubled the yeast...

I plant Swiss Chard bright lites as an ornamental. We have a fast moving rainstorm coming in--saw the clouds just a few minutes ago, following me back from DD's house.

    What plants NOT to plant

I really think it is TIME for this thread. I have seen Tansy seeds advertised as wonderful, AND others that nobody should ever plant.

You punch holes in every cell before adding soil and carrot seeds. I will be doing this soon and planting in pots. I hope to avoid carrot flies.

    Gone to the Dogs

EVERY time I see videos about dog abuse/neglect I pat myself of the back for NEVER letting my female dogs have any puppies to saturate the pet overpopulation. Sasha gets spayed today, Tegan gets spayed June 1st.

    Eating Well on a Budget

Dunno. Worms love cardboard. Do you know that our North American worms are really European worms? Our native worms dig very deep and we don't often See them. All I know this year is that when you plant grocery story onions that have sprouted, they grow a Mass of roots, this group grew roots...

    Eating Well on a Budget

It's always good to buy in bulk, as long as you know that it will be eaten before it expires. I bought 10 lbs of King Arthur all purpose flour, exp: 2/27. Since the insects are ALL waking up I couldn't leave it in it's paper bag, so I filled up several glass containers. I finally tried out...

What does your garden look like today? 🌱

After the last 3 years things have gotten away from me. DD's are helping a LOT with mowing the 5 acres and helping me to organize. They DON'T plant and they DON'T weed. Things looks better. It helps that I am potting up plants this Spring in NICE looking planters. I even bought a new ceramic...
