likely the weight because they also probably want to make sure someone isn't having drugs sent to them... plus there is a good policy of checking random packages just to make sure.
you may find out that they don't do as well the next season, but good luck and i hope they do. :)
i've not found any certain remedy for botrytis other than mulch and diverse bacterial and fungal populations to provide some competition. some years are worse than others, very much weather related.
trip 5 (or is it 6 now? i've lost count) from washing machine repair people. at least he was here and saw what was happening. at first i was worried because we went through a cycle and it worked without a problem, but we then did another and it had the same issue as all along. just stops...
we can have quite cold snaps (-30C or worse at times). a few days ago we were at about -3C. i hope now we're past that.
i don't plant out any warm weather crops until towards the end of May.
if they were recently frosted it is not a good time to take rhubarb. the oxalates in the leaves will move down into the stem and it may take a bit for that to reverse.
you're in a place with much milder winters than what we get here.
i do have pretty good luck growing Green Beauty peas into August here as long as they are kept watered. the clay seems to help, i think they would give up earlier in sandier soil (which also gets warmer).
i agree though about...

my experiences with them (via @ninnymary :) where are you these days dear? :) )... is that they are really really good given the right conditions and timing, but you will have a learning curve with them. that in combination with the weather in your region it may be a challenge. the wall...
saunter, the word is... or sashay... that's another good one...
thanks, i knew there was something i was missing there, but it was on the tip of my fingers after all...
i did in fact have two cookies (and milk!) about an hour ago... the bag had about two dozen cookies in it (short bread chocolate chip - very rich cookies, made a few days ago with butter and extra chocolate chips). not lyin... trust me... (that phrase is a bit of a joke with us because now...
more frosts here, but we did get to about 55F today.
warmer weather this coming week, two days of 66F and two more days in the 70sF. no frosts in the forecast for this week, but a few nights in the high 30sF.
