plenty cold enough here last night with temperatures down into the 20s (likely somewhere between 22-25F for our location last night). i'm hoping it is the last of this kind of cold for the season but i wouldn't count on that yet... not here...
she doesn't like anything with fur (including herself). she just isn't into animals at all, she is more ok with bugs as long as they stay outside, like she will say things about if she's seen a praying mantis, but she won't let them crawl on her. and she will ask me about the worms. :) i...
i'm in pretty good shape in terms of most outside chores. it is on things inside that i'd have liked to have done by now that i'm not getting very far with.
if it is getting that cool out i would not be putting them out in a week. on warmer days you could gradually get them outside in some dappled light to start acclimating them, but beware leaving them out when it does get cold again. they're just not cold weather loving plants. like peppers...
i agree with getting it in the ground when you can is the best for tomatoes. they want to grow. for us that means getting them planted in the ground towards the end of May. that plant you show would be pretty large by then for us. we buy them at the greenhouse and normally they are about 8 -...
properly dried and frozen the seeds may be viable for longer, but it will vary by plant species. so far my searching says that sweet pea seeds may be viable for 10 or more years when frozen. i have no direct experience to go on though...
no, Mom's fear of dogs... :( she acts like prey which makes it even worse. self-reinforcing cycle. if we go anyplace it is all she can focus on if there are any dogs around. it's hard to carry around ice-cream and donuts to give her a treat to distract her. just not possible. we don't go...
i have two pint jars of garlic pickle from 2013 (sure doesn't seem like it was that long ago when i made it), it's wonderful stuff but a little goes a long ways and i just kinda forgot about it for years.
now i'm going to use it when i'm planting this coming season. it will go in the trenches...
i am so far behind where i wanted to be at this time.
i have a website that needs a lot of updates and basically i want to redo it entirely. i've been spending a lot of time investigating and trying things out and setting up a new test environment.
it takes a lot of time to wade through...
sunny but a bit windy and cool today.
we have hard freezes in the forecast for at least two nights this week, the days not very warm either. :( chances of snow tomorrow, but not a big storm.
warmest day is going to have to wait until next Sunday with 61F. coldest day 36F. tomorrow. good...
Mom gave me a pair of her socks that she would not wear again. i wore them and after a few minutes decided i knew why she wouldn't wear them again. they're way too tight! my toes couldn't wiggle at all, poor wee ones...
i don't iron now, just dry things a bit and then hang them up, any that have wrinkles i don't give a rip about... within five minutes of putting them on i'm almost guaranteed to have come back to my comfy roost and sprawled out again and gotten them all wrinkled. phooey on ironing....
there are worldwide tribes of lost socks sitting on laundromat tables. they migrate like any other tribes... cultural heroes? drug addiction? - aka to certain foot sprays? all may be well at the eastern front, but what about the western back? who is most wholey? do they joust (or do i jest...
surprise! i have a green and growing amaryllis bulb that has leaves about 7 inches long and now it decides to put up a flower stalk?! funny stuff, i've not seen one of them do this before.
yes, i'm taking a picture, no, i'm not posting it anytime soon... in the middle of way too much.
i...
