    Winter Pix Where You Are?

Its yucky here right now. I mean, the weather is GREAT! we've have mid 40's every day for a week. AMAZING for northern MN in January. Frightens me, end of the world thoughts and all that, BUT I will take the warm days while they are here, especially since they're predicting another 1997 here...

    Juneberry vs blueberry

My grandpa once gave me a big cereal bowl full of juneberries with cream and sugar. Apparently they used to grow everywhere in MN, but now with all the AG Bane cleacutting EVERYTHING they are hard to find. I plan to get some from the local nursery this spring and start my own patch!

    Rosemary

Hey! OK so my new obsession is rosemary. I'm decently sure that I can't just grow it in the ground here, due to the harsh winters. So, how big a container should I use, and would it be ok to store it in the insulated garage in the winter for a "dormant" period? I have many steps into my...

    Watermelon Fail

THe problem is that the seedlings are very vigorous and grow fast. Then, when they get flowers, they stop growing, the leaves get yellow, and any fruits that set are small and soft, and only get the size of a softball. So, they all start out of the gate really strong then fail.

    Watermelon Fail

OK, so I've tried growing watermelon for 3 years in a row and each year its a huge fail. I get the ones that don't need such a long season to mature, I plant them in full sun, lord knows they get plenty of water, but every year my vines are spindly and short, and the fruits that actually set...

    Becoming an agronomist?

Thanks for the assumption SC. You're reward is the knowledge that in fact I HAVE worked in a grain elevator and it was by far the most rewarding job I've ever held. I cannot deny the financial side of GMO, which is the seller and makes it nearly impossible for anyone to NOT go GMO. I'd tell...

    Becoming an agronomist?

That's kind of what I was thinking. I've been interested in agronomy for about 4 years, and there are a lot of openings in that field most of the time. Really I'd be happiest managing a grain elevator tho....

    Becoming an agronomist?

Do you think that if one took up a career in agronomy one would have to be on board with GMO?

Battle Escalates Against Genetically Modified Crops

I keep my riled up ness to myself and feed my family meat and veggies grown at home. Granted, a portion of their feed is from GMO corn but I try to keep that to a minumum and give them as much free range on the farm as possible.
