    Grr

Yeah they both look the same, and given the weather could very well be a late dormancy. I was assessing things because we had a run of a bad powdery mildew that hit my Autumn Glory maple tree and my 1 of my Charles Joly lilacs last year. I treated both pretty aggressively, but fully expected...

    Grr

So I'm patiently biding my time to see if I got some bad information. Last Father's day my wife had me pick out 2 roses from the fancy pants nursery. So I picked out 2 Flowering Plum roses. They are gorgeous lavender rebloomers and have an amazing fragrance. Well I got a little antsy...

    Any other tips?

Yeah I have no desire for my lawn to look like a golf course or any of the large expanses that mansions sit on. Its functional space for me. No weed killers, no feeding, no reseeding.

    Any other tips?

Yep I refer to it as "yard". There is enough room for my kids to run, the dog to run, and play. Anything that will hurt your foot is dealt with otherwise its just mowed to a reasonable height to keep it greenish. Could be dandelions, could be creeping jenny, could be Kentucky blue grass. I...

Do You Use Your Car To Transport Garden Supplies ?

I transported my Autumn Glory tree in my minivan. No shame here. I also had a Ford Ranger back in the day. My parents redid their kitchen and I packed it full of crap to haul to the dump. Used the counters to help me pile up stuff higher in it. Go to the weigh in and the guy steps out from...

    Pass the scalpel please Igor

@catjac1975 how is your greenhouse heated? And have you taken any particular steps to make sure it holds heat better above and beyond what they sell in a factory kit?

Do You Use Your Car To Transport Garden Supplies ?

My van is always a mess. Its the cleanest vehicle I've kept honestly though. 3 kids, plus a dog, and all my projects? Its no show room model. Especially because I have stow and go seats so they fold into the floor giving me a lot of room very quickly.

    And, Everyone is Irish!

Its always amateur hour, so I stay home. We used to do corned beef and cabbage but its not a big deal if we don't. Family goes back to Cunninghams, McGillicuttys, and some Germans. I'm sure its legitimately Irish but unless I'm a Patty O'Furniture there's not much to celebrate. I wear my...

    Can't keep me down forever

@so lucky yes we do use vodka ;) It bakes right out you never taste it. It keeps it pliable when you're rolling it out, and when you bake it the vodka bakes out and makes a very flaky pie crust. That's Jasper our setter he's a tri color. @Nyboy He's a family dog that hunts. We got him with...

    Client And Puppy

Thing is people with money see it differently than folks who don't have that much money. Far as the price of the puppy....well I can honestly say I've spent that much on a dog and I don't have a rich spouse. All in what you want. I had specific goals in mind so I was willing to pull the OT to...

Watermelon for garden (in the north)

Yellow Doll is what I've found at the farmers markets here. I asked the growers/sellers and that's what I was told they were. And I'm north of you for what it's worth. I buy them when I want some because we don't eat enough watermelon to justify the space needed.

    Seneca Chief

Hate to say it but corn doesn't get the same attention I think as other heirloom plants. Probably because it's so easy to hybridize. It was the first thing that came to mind when as I read through this.

Didn't mean to be a recluse

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Things are getting better. Lot of trials and frustrations seems like if there's an exception or it could happen it does. Biggest thing is the shifting demands. The finding someone to watch kids so we can get to a Dr apt etc. trying to keep tabs and...
