Pics from my winter fall garden with some questions

So things are still alive after our early cold snap and my absolute neglect. I often come home in the dark and am totally scared of a dark garden that is where serial killer wait for you. But I still have things growing and now I am wondering what to. Within the next month it is time to...

How To Season Your Cast Iron Skillet

I have several cast iron skillets and they really are the best. They cost nothing when compared to the constant price of buying Teflon coated pans or the fear of not throwing them away soon enough as the Teflon peals away (i heard it causes Alzheimers).

    Dahlias

Wow 2000 is a lot. I grew three. But they got lost in the bed and were overtaken by the marigolds. I was ok with it cause the merry golds did so well. I would try them again if they were just a bit less care. I need plants without maintance.

    Gardenias

I had a few and the ones that got sun always looked bad. but the ones that were more shaded looked great. Always fragrant (almost as good as a sweet olive). They have mineral deficiency problems so you will have to give them some care but other than that they should work well for you in Georgia.

    bean pot teepee

Has anyone done the bean TeePee in a small raised bed garden. I always struggle to keep my beans controlled and it seems that the TP would take up too much valuable space in a small garden.

    Nitrogen for the Corn Patch

Soil tests don't always test for nitrogen. My extenstion agent said they never test for it cause it is so dynamic that it could be there one day and gone the next. Try just adding a balanced fertizler and a ton of compost to the soil. I think corn is often used as a nitrogen mop as are squashes.

    Mums

I am disappointed in my garden mums for the second year in a a row. I plant them and they only flower a bit after I buy them then nothing. They stay puny little things that I can't see. Next year I am going to stay with violas and pansies.

    My fall southern garden

I cook the baby bok choy in a bit of soy sauce an sesame oil tastes great and smells better. I will also occasionally add some fish sauce to the mix. I got one quick question how long does a broccoli head take to develop? Like I see the little button head but how long does it take to get big.
