I use a bubbler, for the reasons Nadine already noted. But folks around here use a gallon of cider instead of the molasses. Personally, I'd rather drink the cider.
I also know folks that make it the lazy way and stir it a couple of times a day. Not sure it that's enough aeration though.

I would think the climate difference would make how you plant it much different. Here in Virginia, generally we plant the 3rd or 4th week of October. It sprouts, goes dormant, generally gets shoved back in the ground after the thaw (because of frost heave), and harvested the following summer...
Nice, Nifty!
I've still got lettuce, chard, spinach, and leeks in my garden right now, so it's a bit hard to think of spring. Plus, I just got my garlic in a couple of weeks ago, and started some more leeks and mache in the cold frame.
I'll probably do 3 or 4 varieties of tomatoes this year...
With our warm spell, I didn't get the garlic in until the first week of November. They're all poking up they're little green heads now. Can't wait for next summer. Yummmmmm.
They're a mix of hardneck and softneck from the grocery store mostly.
So, who else loves growing garlic.
