    79 and sunny!

Wind today, and even more wind tomorrow. At this rate, I'm never going to get my big picture window in the living room replaced. :rant For some reason, the window guy doesn't want to try when we have steady 30mph breezes! vfem, If you were in my part of the world, you could go as a windmill!

    What happened to my

That's sounding awfully familar. I got these at a local nursery and did get them planted the same day, but I get the feeling that it doesn't take much to drown these guys. For round 2, should I try buying plants again, or do you guys have better luck the bare root ones?

    What happened to my

Yeah, we got quite a bit of rain, but all at one time and late in the summer. Drainage where they are/were is pretty good. Someone had flowers there at one point because I've been digging in some pretty decent soil, not the usual clay. Between rains, I usually soak everything really well...

    What happened to my

daylilies? Beefy's pics have made me extremely envious and I have a problem. Something destroyed my daylily roots/tubers this summer. They bloomed (sort of) early in the summer and then...nothing. Leaves disappeared, too. Sooo, while I've had the shovel out, I dug them up. What's left...

    Another mystery

That sounds like what I've been watching! I like the looks of the thing, so I think I'll baby it some this winter and see what it does next year. Maybe with some TLC I can avoid another major excavation project. Thanks, Ron.

    Another mystery

That's kinda what my guess was, but what were they thinking to plant one up here? Now for the next question, what do I do with it?? It's in a nice spot aesthetically speaking and I don't mind putting some effort into it if that will help it.

    79 and sunny!

Finally have some sunshine. So now maybe the mud will dry up and I can get on with the fun stuff! We didn't get anywhere near what BDR did, but it came with north winds and highs in the low 40s. Brrrr. So now I have a clean(er) house. I did go plant some buddleia in the drizzle yesterday...

    Another mystery

This is about 3' tall, dies back every fall and so far has had no blooms or fruit. It really doesn't look to be a happy plant and I have no idea what it is. Should I put it out of it's misery, or is there something that I can do to make it flourish?

"pat yourself on the back" - what went RIGHT for you this year?

More things grew than didn't! :clap I planted "just enough" squash. Had some to give away, but nobody locked their doors when they saw me coming. ANNND, my raspberries actually had berries!! Raspberries are not too fond of the Panhandle and I've killed at least my share. Next year a lot of...

    I Found It!!

Thank you Steve for making my place seem less disasterous! It was in good repair, but nobody had left a road map of where things were/are. :th I used to have a dog that was very good at digging where instructed. Sure do miss him. Neither of the ones I have now believe in doing much...

    I Found It!!

Actually, no. I still have about 16' of grass to dig out and we got a lot of rain yesterday. The plants are sitting in the kitchen sink right now hoping I'll go dig some holes for them this afternoon. Which if the north wind will die down some should happen. Then it's on to the next bed for...

Roses by seed (Update pics 10/19)

Me three! This looks like fun. Gotta go call Mom and tell her to leave those rose hips alone.

    My Pineapple Guava

Cool plant! I think I might have a spot where it would be happy, too. This is getting dangerous, I just got 6 of Park's Bicolor buddleias in the mail yesterday and their home isn't quite ready yet. At least the roses haven't shipped yet. Their home isn't ready either. :th

    Horse Poop! My Fall/Winter/Spring project.

I would love it if someone would come haul off my excess of fresh horse poop. Although since I cut down to 2 horses and started gardening, maybe that isn't such a good idea! At least this year my aged pile has somewhere to go. Sure wish it would move itself, though. :P

    I Found It!!

The long lost sewer clean out!! DH will be SO pleased. We bought this place as part of an estate wrap up, so everyone who knew anything about where/how stuff was/worked was in no condition to tell us. Kind of a treasure hunt with no map. :ya DH has brought home all sorts of technological...

    Preserving Leaves

Thank you guys! The info has been relayed to Mom. I think she's going to try waxing some. Wish she'd change projects with me today...I'm digging up bermuda grass :barnie and hoping it turns into a flower bed.

    Preserving Leaves

How? Mom has some trees that are starting to show beautiful color and she was wondering how to preserve them for centerpieces without them getting brown and crunchy. I have no clue, but I know somebody on here will have the answer!

    Big $0 coldframe from scrap

Love the recycled window look! I've been in the process (for 2 weeks now) of having windows replaced and I had such high hopes for all that left over glass. Unfortunately, the glass was so old and brittle that the biggest piece is about 1' sq. :hit Maybe next year I'll go scavenging.
