I am new to the chicken thing and have been lucky enough to not lose any of my flock (yet, they're only 4mos).
Pretty sure I read something about too much nitrogen. I guess its common if you use Miracle-Grow too much. Lots of green, full leaves but no veggies.

I recently took a canning class and someone asked this exact question. The instructor suggested she call the manufacturer and ask what they suggest. She stated that some are able to function ok, others are not.
That is another reason I want to become more involved in the Master Gardener's program. I have a far-away dream of doing something I love for a job vs just doing my job. You never know who you may meet @ the class or doing volunteer work.

I know what you mean about the children thing. Mine are 6 (almost 7) and 2 (almost 3). I also work full-time, so it would be a bit of a sacrifice in regards to my evenings with my kids. Hmmmm....I still don't know :hu

That's exactly what our instructor said! She also said that if you increase the headspace from 1" to 1/4th inch it increases the processing time 40 minutes. Who knew?
