My dogs eat strawberries right along with the chipmunks so I think hardware cloth is the best solution. Good Luck fighting the little buggers.

Nice we planted all the cold tolarent stuff this week and last week.
Lettuce, carrots, many types of mesclun, spaggehti squash, peas, radishes and beets.
I also planted egg plants but that was just an eggsparament LOL

We use 6x4 raised beds in our garden surounded by pea gravel and fenced in we also have a 12x4 rasberries patch and a strip of blueberries out front it is fenced in by a 4 foot high picket we also have sunflowers and pumpkins out behind. This system has worked for around 6 years.

Some problems have included what happens when famlies go away over the summer and who will pay the high water bill during the summer. It has pretty mush ended up with my family taking care of the garden all summer and also taking the brunt of the water bill. Hopefully this will start to work...
my favorite is called guacamole my mom has a whole bed of them and then she cuts them down and the daffodils come up and then the hostas fill in after the daffodils die.

I am the founder of my schools sustainable living club. we are trying to make our upper school more of a green school. In my field outback we have a large comunity garden that my family is the main oraganizers of. we plant every mothers day. the flock of hens is mine but I plan on selling eggs...
I don't exactly practice bio dinamics but I use a pastured poultry system for my hens and they will be in the garden in a few days to help fertilize. they will also be in and out all summer to help eat bugs fallen tomatoes, fertilize and mix the soil up.

I understand about the apples taking awhile and I might have to reconsider we already have a berry patch an the chickens are on a tractor and pen system so they can't get to them. I might just expand our berry patch.
are their any fruits that would bear alot almost emeadiatly?

Hi I was wondering what breeds of apples and what types of other fruit I should put in the mini orchard I want to plant this year? I am planning on not using any chemicals or pesticides. Just chickens for bug control. Thanks,

protect them from birds with netting they can be great plants. also trim the rasberries down to the cane once a year. (this is also my first post)
