Good luck on getting those squirrels corralled!
We had a cute pair that we came to realize had taken up residence in the area above the attic in our century home. Waking up to them rolling nuts around, fighting, babies chasing each other was like living in a hollow tree. We were never...
Hmmm. We have been very upset with a"reputable" long time local nursery that sells bare root fruit trees and bushes.
Every one has died and the replacements and their replacements died. They have no guarantees so we kept shelling out the bucks thinking it was something we were doing wrong. 4...
Is this the western sage? Fine silvery leaves:

It says it is Artemisia. Sage Brush.
If it is I'll plant this too!
We have a Sweet Annie Artemisia that has such a great fragrance that I wondered about using it as well.
I pick peppermint at most any stage except late when it is old, yellowing and way past flowering.
I use one of these methods:
I tie it in bunches and hang dry it in a warm ventilated room.
I dry it spread out in a dehydrator. It will keep a better color with this.
I dry it on a tray in my car...
If it has bite like watercress you can make cress mayonnaise:
1 bunch of cress
1/4 c mayo
2 tbsp grainy mustard (Do not substitute other mustards)
salt & pepper
Dip cress into boiling water till bright, chop.
Mix all and chill.
So fantastic over steamed broccoli or cauliflower, or on fish.
Those are so imaginative!
I go to a Fairy Festival each year at a local herb shop, They teach how to make fairy gardens and sell the tiny accessories, have a tea and fairy cakes.
In Michigan fairy doors began mysteriously appearing all over Ann Arbor...
Great post! Thank you!!!You've given me information that didn't occur to me to ask for.
I didn't know about packing tight-do you dry the plants completely before packing or pack fresh?
I'll try the pine, too.
I have oregano that is so invasive that it choked out mint!
I mow the entire patch and it is such a fragrant mowing experience.
It's in an area of lawn that isn't important so I'll continue to be entertained with scented mowing!
Interesting, I find that Lemon Balm tastes and smells like Pledge or Murphy's Oil Soap and have never equated Lemongrass with that sensation.
I use it for tea and love it.
I consider lemon verbena the gold standard for herbal tea.
I like it better than actual lemons because it has a floral nuance to it.
I'm in zone 5 and have never had luck over wintering it. Maybe I'll try Steve's idea and cover it inside. I lost a lot of stuff this winter that survived outside...
Could be, Steve! :happy_flower
Thanks for the Richters site-that is where I'll order from.
I have an herb garden that has room for expansion so I wanted to dedicate a bed to Native American specialty herbs.
I've bought smudge at a gift booth and loved the scent.
I can always use a little...
I want to grow White Sage ( Salvia apiana) and Sweetgrass (Hierochloe odorata), which I understand are used for smudge.
How hard are these to grow? I am in Northern Ohio and zone 5.
I think I found a source for seeds, but would plants be better?
Thanks!
It is not Trumpet Vine, Campsis radicans.

I dry many varieties of beans and peas. I let them dry on the vine then pull the vines up and let dry further. The bean can't be soft or it will store badly. I simply store in a canning jar with a clean used lid.
I've read of bugs in dried beans but that hasn't been my experience and I am...
