I found that I picked too many peas for supper and put the rest in the fridge where they promptly got forgotten behind the moldy leftovers. During that time, they sprouted. I'm in zone 6 and it seems too early to plant a fall crop. Is there a way to save the peas for planting a little later...

Well, we put our raised bed up in March - before the trees leafed out. At the last second, DH moved it about 3-4 feet closer to the edge of the yard. Now I have a shady garden box :rolleyes:

I'm having similar problems. I'm growing mine in wire baskets. I have started dumping dried leaves on the plants. Hopefully by the end, I will have potatoes and some nice compost!

My potatoes were up 6-8 inches, so I filled up the bin to the top 3 leaves. Next day, they are sticking up 6-8 inhces again. So I figured I didn't do a good job and filled the bin again. Guess what? The next day they were up 6-8 inches again! Crazy things.
We planted an arborvitae just about a year ago. It's already about 6' tall. During an ice storm, the top flopped over. The branches aren't split, it just all hangs down one side. Any solution? Will it continue to grow in height if I top it?

A certain amount of algae is just part of the lifecycle of a pond and it can help disguise the manmade parts of the poond. That said, you either have too many fish or not enough shade. Since I have a lazy streak when it comes to scrubbing, I would provide more plant cover and focus on plants...
