    Chickens and new sprouts

Have to agree with fencing everything off. The chickens will eat your garden no matter what stage the plants are in....so if you protect them with mesh or temporary measures while the plants are new and small, as soon as you remove the "protection", hey, it looks even better to your birds. Anne

    Tomato soup recipe?

This is one tomato soup receipe I have been making for a couple of years and it's very good. It cans well. When ready to serve, I usually add cooked rice for a heartier soup. The original receipe called for 1-2 cloves of garlic , but if you like garlic, that is a silly amount....so I upped it...

    Paste?

I make the kind of thick, rich paste you refer to simply by cooking down my tomato sauce. The more you cook it, the thicker and richer it becomes. I always thought that was paste...... Anne

I need a good recipe for cannable tomato sauce using...

I have been canning tomatos, bell peppers, and pears for years with the skins on with no problems. In fact, since I am now roasting my tomatos for canned sauce and not taking the skins off, I am saving a whole lot of time and I think the flavors are richer. It is sure a lot easier and I think...

    Freezing baked cobblers ????

I have a good apple/pear cobbler receipe that I want to freeze. I bought some tin foil containers. Should I cook the cobbler first and then freeze or freeze uncooked? If I cook first and then freeze, when I want to eat it, do I let it thaw and then re-heat? Or re-cook frozen? Oh, my, this...

    Digging potatoes

I dug all mine up last week, after the foilage wilted and began to turn yellow/brown. Have to say though that unless I actually saw some potato I would have let them die down more and it wasn't necessary. I would agree to do a little digging and see what you have down there. Anne
