Seems to me that would be a great way to isolate invasive plants such as peppermint, oregano, chives. I wouldn't expect them to overwinter in that as it would probably freeze out the root system if left outdoors. You could hang it indoors and harvest fresh herbs all year long.
My garden space is limited so the idea of a tower seems to be one that could free up a lot of that space. I only started my compost pile last year so what I have in there that is usable wouldn't be enough to fill a tower. I really need that compost to build the soil in the garden. One commodity...
Blueberries need acidic soil to grow well and they can easily tolerate sandy soil as well. I'm not sure however if they will tolerate wet feet. Perhaps you could build up the soil in that area so it can drain better? Raised bed maybe? Some of the lowbush varieties only grow to a height of about...
I will never do business with them again. Last year I ordered 25 asparagus crowns and ten sweet potato roots. When the potatos showed up there were no crowns. Just a note that they were out of stock. They had my order months ahead of time and never took the time to tell me that the crowns...
TX I agree. Every time I drive past an apartment bldg I wonder how I ever lived in one. Now I have thirty acres and wish I could buy the neighbors 50.
Thistle... I thought about it but satellite companies will not install it for internet alone. You have to bundle it with television. Being the...
Noted. "Mules are not IMO the problem. Gen-mod fish would actually be able to spawn. God only knows what type of offspring they might produce long term if released into the population.
Sorry but I just keep having these visions of such things as asian carp moving into lake Michigan and wiping...
You're a sweetheart.
I think I have already gotten the jist of that vid.
Funny that I have never seen the topic come up before as I'm sure there must be others that share my dilemna.
Sad thing is that I am certain that I am missing out on a wealth of humor that has to be viewed to be...
When I first found BYC a few years ago I was given a great deal of advice on building my coop. Most of it however came from reading others posts. They had far less than 50,000 members then. Since then however (now with almost 80,000) it just seems to be much more impersonal. I still go there and...
I'm in a rural area and do not have acess to high speed. Doomed to a world of dialup and reading.
No disrespect but it is a little frustrating when everyone posts links leading to a video without any sort of simple summary of what they are posting.
Kinda like sitting across the aisle and...
These are not Hybrid fish.
"This week, media reports revealed that scientists in the department of fisheries and oceans raised doubts about approving genetically modified fish over concerns the fish could escape from fish farms and mate with natural Canadian fish stock"
I added a good deal of organic matter (grass clippings) and a sulpher mix provided by the nursery. Tilled it in well then added peat and another treatment of sulpher when I planted. I keep it mulched with grass clippings and pine straw. Blueberries have a very delicate root system so I harvest...
Itaytwo... My bushes are two years in the ground and I purchased two year old plants when I put them in. I wasn't sure which variety to buy so I bought two. I had room for 12 plants so I got 6 Toro (lowbush)and 6 blueray (highbush). The reason I bought these varieties is that they were grown by...
This entire area was glacier formed. There are virtual "rivers" of rock in some of the surrounding fields. Stones this size sell for $80.00 a ton. Believe you don't need many to make a ton.
