What varities of fruit trees do you have? With many varities need pollenator varieties to use for pollenation. There must be at least to different var. blooming at the same time!
Next question is; Do you have enough bees? You really need lots of bees to pollinate fruit trees. What a...
Wow! That is a load of 'blessings'! Good for you and what nice neighbors..many folks would rather throw stuff away that share... Being 'rich' is really great!! Dixie
We use field fencing wired to t-posts-set about 5ft apart. By the end of the season you can't even see the wire..I also use this for my cucumbers. Dixie
I just received my new Prohoe hoes...one is a scuffle hoe and the other is their heavy duty garden hoe..they are wonderful! Recycled steel, really sharp, easy to use and made in the USA! I got tired of 'trying' to hoe in our large garden with red clay that turns to bricks during the dry summers...
Looks like I am going to have a bumper crop for blueberries. Blueberry muffins for breakfast are my favorite.. I have made several different recipes for blueberry muffins and have yet to find one I love... Could you all share your favorite recipes?? Thanks Dixie
When my youngest was 3--he was helping me in the garden. He had been 'picking' (translation+pulling them up by the roots) wild flowers and bring them to me...I would thank him, brag what a wonderfullllllll son he was, and tell him I loved him.... well, after about 5 flower deliveries, he brings...
Nice flowers, Dawn! I also like the Lady Banks but don't have one..
The Double Delight is beautiful--I planted one last yr but it died during our drought.. Just could NOT water enough for the newly planted... Maybe I will try her again this yr...Dixie
what type of pea? Snow, field, black eye, purple hull?? If it is snow peas, I like them young and tender AND I like the large with peas formed in them. I use both on salads and I steam the more mature pea and serve as a side dish.
Wow, you have a beautiful garden.
You should not use DE on the plants that are blooming. The honeybees will track it back to the hive and it will kill larva! I think you would be safe to use it at the base of the plants and on non blooming plants.
We have red clay and your tomatoes seem to...
What's your favorite rose and why do you love it? I would also love pictures of your beauties..
I don't have a lot of them but the ones I do have I enjoy them because they are beautiful cut flowers. They look great in my crystal vases, my canning jars or my wine bottles!
I have one that came...
I love new var. of tomatoes... Please come back and give us a report on taste, texture and the production of your new "Tiny Tim"! He is a cutie...Dixie
The week before Mother's Day, we planted: greenbeans (Blue Lake and Half Runners), limas, okra, peas, sweet corn and seedlings I started -- 30 tomato plants,
4 cucumber, 4 yellow squash, 4 zucc., 4 Mammouth pumpkin, 4 Conn. pumpkins and a 50lb. bag of sunflower seeds! I still have 100...
Thank you, both! I will try several different methods to see which one works best..
"mom', Do I pull all the leaves off the stem cutting? How large of a cutting do I need ( pencil size ?). Is Now a good time to take cuttings or fall/winter?
thanks again...Dixie
I am in zone 7 and have two Jersey blueberries as well as 6 other var. They are now 8yrs old and still produce well. I prune out all dead wood and try to keep it pruned like a small tree (having most of the foliage from hip to head high). It is easy picking the berries and keeps them healthy.
Well, I purchased ten 6" pots, each having at least four fans! They look great and the garden center tries to keep them in stock!! :D Thanks again Dixie
I have a beautiful, old, barely pink, climbing rose that I would love to have more of but I have no idea what var. it is! It has some 'wild' limbs that are low to the ground and I was wondering--can I root those limbs. I thought I might scrap the stem and place it in the ground and see if it...
How could I not recongize those beauties. I have 'drooled' over your coop and landscaping for over a yr. now...LOL
Thank you for the list but I found them at my favorite garden center! Small plants but they are only 5.50 each!! I can baby them for a yr. or two for that price. I am going to get...
