    Raised Beds, Frame-It-All?

I went with fir with no treatment (oil) because many people on this forum reported 10 years or longer with their untreated fir raised beds.

    Lets Talk ROSES!

I love my Don Juan climber so much I got a second one. Very strong too. And fragrant. Deep velvety red blooms. I transplanted it in the middle of the summer two years ago. I was sure it was dead. Instead, it is flourishing. I also have a pink fragrant climber with no thorns, called...

    Marigolds

Now I'll be singing that song everytime I transplant something. Probably when I am trying to get my students do something too. The threat of any singing is usually enough to get them to do what I want them to do.

Am i running really late on my gardens?

I don't have much of a problem with squirrels (yet), except for them planting oak trees all over the place. I hope I don't jinx myself, but they don't bother my bulb flowers or much of anything else. Maybe there are so many oak trees around here that they have plenty of other stuff to eat...

Am i running really late on my gardens?

Hi Greenthumb18. Depending on where in Queens you might be in a slightly warmer microclimate than me. (I used to live in Ridgewood, and I had a huge rosemary plant. I can't keep one alive over the winter here in Nassau.) Anyway, I still need to buy dirt and I hate the thought of buying dirt...

Is it ok to grow these herbs together?

I use joint compound buckets. Seems like there is always one around. HunkieDorie23, be careful also with oregano. I don't have any direct experience but I have heard that certain varieties may also be invasive. I also think that you can plant them any way you wish. If you want a pretty...

Am i running really late on my gardens?

I am really late too. I just recently built my raised beds and they aren't even filled with soil yet. I plan to just plant warm season crops and then fall crops (if I ever get the beds filled.)

I really want these tree's, where can i get them?

You should be able to get pink dogwood trees at any garden center or nursery. Ask the people there. Be aware that some trees are better planted in the fall. I don't know if these are or not. You could also order online. Just do a google search on pink dogwood trees.

Is it ok to grow these herbs together?

You had better separate the mint or otherwise thats all you will have. It will spread invasively. The others should be fine together. To separate my mint, I usually cut the bottom out of a five gallon bucket, sink it into the ground with the top edge sticking up a few inches, fill with dirt...

HELP! Ants in my soil when I pulled up my radishes.

I was going to suggest DE too. In the summer, we always have an invasion of pavement ants (the little tiny ones) in our enclosed porch. I had just gotten 50# of food grade DE in the mail for the chickens, and I put a little sprinkle by the door where they were coming in. That one little...

    Am I the first hillbilly??? Wee-doggies!! ~WV~

Ramps are a wild onion thing that only grow wild in the forests. The leaf is relatively broad for the onion family. They almost look like lily of the valley. (The leaves anyway). Towns have ramp festivals and ramp suppers. If anybody in your family goes, you had better go too and eat some...

Shrub needed that blooms in mid March in zone 6/7

I can never remember if we are zone 6 or 7. A friend of the family died this week and he was a plant lover. I would like to get the family a shrub or very small tree that would bloom around his birthday, which is March 18. It should also tolerate some shade. I thought of witch hazel but I...
