I get those all the time out of my straight neck. I have never seen one on the zukes though, wonder what causes it? Sure doesnt make it taste any different!
IMO dont cut them. Just put a t post at each end, run string down one side, wrap around the post and then run back down the other side of the plants. I always leave mine as I think is helps feed the roots which makes more for next year. They get cut when they are dead and all the bright red...
I have white (niagra) and purple (cabernet) grapes. It is happening on both types of them. They are drying out and turning hard, but they are at the back of the yard next to the pasture so air flow shouldnt be a problem. No shade there at all so it cant be a sunlight issue.
My grapes are about the size of a large pea and they are turning black? Is there something that they need and arent getting? They are finally starting to produce and I hate to lose them all.
They will keep 3-4 days just laying on the counter inside and then you can put them in the fridge and buy more time that way. You should be fine it is coming in next week.
I have some of the prettiest broc and cabbage and brussel sprouts this year. I planted them and then cut the bottom out of a see through solo plastic cup and set them over the plants. They are growing great and dont seem to have a pest problem (knock on wood) It kept bugs bunny out of them...
Might want to wait a little on that corn Andy. Most will stand back up on its own unless it is broken, then you can support it. I have had corn that looks like someone filled the bottom foot of the stalk with 90degree elbows to make it stand. Still tasted the same.....
I am with Rosalind - I load my own shells.
I wonder if the whole hair thing is true (never tried it or know someone that has). They claim human hair, very lightly spread (I guess for the smell) keeps them out of places. Are they getting you in the dark? Maybe a motion light would help? They...
What does it matter to the grounds crew? Are they going to weed? Are they going to plant or feed or harvest ( bet they would eat some harvest if offered). You are taking space that they dont have to mow so there is a little less for them. It isnt like you are taking away a persons job...
You mentioned venison in there are couple times. We go through a lot of venison but I would be affraid it would be really dry do to no fat? Have you ever made the pastrami out of the venison after corning it?
My boss is a full blown oganic man. He is just starting to do the "garden thing" and is doing organic raised beds. He is now starting to run into a pest problem and doesnt want to go the pesticide route. I am looking for suggestions to pass along. I am listing the plants and most of us know...
Homeade Pastrami and Fresh Homeade Rye Bread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am married but you can come live with me if you would like :weee
I am not sure there is much better in the world :thumbsup
Now if you can do homeade corned beef and kraut I might have to build on and let you bring the family too...
I would suggest the garden hose then. Somewhere on here someone tells how to make them cheap and as cats hate being wet the should get the idea quick, good luck.
But if it came out of the compost without an fert or attention at all my experience has said that they dont grow as large or as well. Just like a second growth tomato you find in the late season garden.
However with all that - Only time will tell, so just keep watering :D
I use a very sharp putty knife and a little hammer. I tap the knife through the main parts just cutting them in half and then can cut the little peices off after I get the majority out of the way.
