Dace, that was my first thought as well. My grandma said it had something to do with the blossom, so maybe that is it.
I will defiinitely do that! We feed the cats eggs every day when I collect them, and being the white trash we are *LOL*, I just toss the shells in a box next to the feed dish...
Ok, thanks! I keep getting mixed reports from my family, so its getting pretty confusing! lol. One will thump it and say, "Sounds ripe!" then the next one tells me its not. So what the heck?!
Those were two of the techniques I had heard of, thanks! That's the thing with this one, there is NO spot on the bottom. That's what was throwing me off, lol.
Well Folks,
I've got quite a few melons on my Orange Tendersweet plants, and a few are pretty large! I have my large one that has grown a lot, and I dont know when to pick these things! I've heard all kinds of techniques, and I wanted to know which worked well for you? This watermelon has NO...
I love the plants as well, Dace. My brandywines keep getting a funky looking brown spot on the bottom, and my grandma said it isnt leaving much of the tomato to eat. She said they are great, but its kind of a pain having to cut around the spot. I'll have to take a pic and see what is up...
Thank You, Laura! I appreciate your nice comments.
Natalie, that is my grandma's rat of a dog. I really cant stand the thing. She likes to chase my cats and torment my pigeons. She attacked one of my cats yesterday and I had to chase her around the yard with a flip flop trying to smack her...
Thanks, Carlos. Im pretty proud.
Sure will! I've always heard good things about Brandywines, and she definitely loves hers! I love the Brandywine plants, personally. I think the leaves are gorgeous.
Thanks, Dace!
Humm... yes, there is a Green Zebra. According to my grandma, they are pretty good. I dont eat tomatoes, so I cant say personally. they look really cool! Inside and out. The orange one is actually a Yellow Brandywine, sure looks orange though, LOL. My grandma loves the pink...
Hey Folks!
Well my corn is doing great, I've picked 40 ears! Wow, I didnt realize I had picked so much until about 5 seconds ago! Anyways, the first 17 were great, perfectly formed except for a couple worms. The ones I picked today were a little off though. Most either had some missing kernels...
Natalie, I have NO idea how I missed your post!
Thank you, very much. It drives me insane when my cousins sit in the house all day and play video games and they live at my grandmas. I would kill to live out there so I could spend the day in my garden & with her, and they act like its nothing...
Ok, thanks, Carlos! Im glad to hear its safe in Organic Gardening because my grandma really hates to use pesticides. We definitely arent Organic though, so I dont know what she's talkin about, lol.
Thanks, Poppy! I've actually gotten quite a few pictures of them sitting on the fence. I just stand real still until they decide to land! I've gotten a few flying pictures, but I believe its easier to take a pic when they sit on the fence, lol.
Thanks, Dace. I definitely plan on keeping it going for as long as possible!
Thanks, Adele! Umm.... Im not really sure at the moment! My grandma usually cuts off the skin, slices them length wise, dips them in a beaten egg then crushed crackers and then she fries them. My parents dont know how...
Oh, I know that! :gig I probably should have worded that better, sorry. Or just put "eyes", LOL. I guess saying that is better than saying that caterpillar has a cool butt! :P
Im so sorry for your daughter's loss. I lost a friend in 7th grade to a heart disease, she was 13 and I was 12. I planted blue Morning Glories for her, as blue was her favorite color. I had a bush that got baby blue flowers on it every year, but we had to leave it when we moved. I really hope...
