I was thinking about trying a few in the buckets plunked in the garden and a few just dug in real deep ... kinda like testing my soil kinda thing. I don't know - just heard about it and was thinking about it.
I plan to only start a few seeds at a time (like 1 flat of whatever) so I can learn how to do it without wasting alot of my seeds.
I will be getting fluorescent grow lights (probably a small one like 24 inches) and probably 1 or 2 gro spot light like bulbs to play with if/when I start getting...
What is your stance on 5 gallon plastic buckets. I've heard about cutting the bottoms out and filling with soil to plant potatoes. Brother works construction and they always have loads of 5 gallon buckets left. Thinking about giving those a good cleaning and using them with my sweet potatoes.
I live within city limits and have a 0.4 acre lot ... so to have more than 1 tree, I will have to have dwarfs.
Plus, I'll be doing the miniature citrus trees in pots this year if I get my way ;)
Thanks Pat and Tx :)
I will try to get a pic and post it, maybe someone can ID the offender! I just know it gets in the way of the car and the Forsythia bush!
Hubby went out and checked the tree today -- seems that it has started to rot too. So we'll probably just cut it down and start over.
Gives me an excuse to get my dwarf apricot and dwarf apple trees ;)
I'll not be moving them until the soil is workable in the spring because it likely will get cold and freeze even next week here.
And - eh - the basement has become wet this past summer anyway ... what's a little more water
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Oh my! I went looking at african violet websites and now I know what I'll be adding to the indoor garden that consists of only a mother in law tongue!
Anyone have luck with orchids?
I have no idea what kind it is ... was here when we moved in, and I don't like it.
Easiest way to get rid of it? Just dig and dig until I'm pretty sure most of the roots are gone? It is right beside the concrete driveway, so either I'm gonna damage the concrete tearing it out, or its gonna...
I have 2 redbuds, 2 ornamental pear and 1 I'm thinking its a Washington Hawthorn - can't remember the third kind right now - that need transplanted. I messed around this fall until too late to transplant. They are currently planted against the house (had started them there because of weather...
I have a plum tree - It probably is an ornamental - but when the frost doesn't kill it, we get lots of little oblong red plums that are good!
My problem is that it has started to split. Do you prune off the side that seems to be weaker or what? I will try to get some pics tomorrow in the...
My .4 ish acres is on a hillside that is like this / too :)
My house sits in the middle of it.
My hubby said he'll be happy IF I actually put the garden in, less to :mow! :gig
Re: the blog ... I could never get into doing a blog online before I started my poultry one. And it was...
well, if they don't have a poor cold germination problem, then I'll have to add Country Gentleman and Golden Bantam on the list then, and Dad can help decide which one or two we'll do and split the costs and seeds.
Can y'all check out the blogroll on the right of my blog and let me know if I missed any great seed companies? :bouquet
I tried to list every site that was mentioned here so far! :throw
And yes, TEG forum is listed there too! :bee
