I am Nursing my tomato seedlings. I got them TOO wet, and the light wasn't strong enough I moved them and I think I have solved the problem. There will be a little bit of "jerry rigging" before my trip, but I am satisfied that by the first week in June I should be able to put out a few of them...
I cleaned up and hauled away the piles of weeding from the south side of the house, and dumped all in my bonfire spot in the north pasture.
I also took my lopper to the overgrown blackberry stalks and :woot:woot:wootI discovered that all THREE of my roses there survived this mess from 2024...
I have experimented with a theory that is, so far working, for burdock and other deep rooted weeds on my property.
I take my shovel/spade, dig down close to the root, use it as a fulcrum to snap the weed above ground.
Then, with a nice hole right above the rest of the taproot, I put the top of...
I have been putting down blue tarps and used plastic tablecloths that I have saved over the stones in the area between the house and sidewalk, south side of the house and 1/2 of the east side. I have been doing minimal weeding and I won't have time/energy to handle the weeds before and after my...
Downright hot and humid and THEN, cool here.
DH insists on a fan blowing cold air in at night. 🥶
I am sleeping under my electric blanket, just to survive!!
Still, DD's are coming for dinner and I will need their help to take off the living room storm window for the season.
Looks...
About to weed and cover the stones around the house, again today.
MORE pictures later, BUT, here are 2 beautiful ceramic pots that DD's church was offering free for Mother's Day.
I have window shopped pots this year, and these two would probably have cost me around $75.00 ...
ALL of the baking was a great success!
Middle DD joined the party. She fried up the cornbread in bacon grease.
Family said it was "to die for."
Gonna have to have my God Mower (Kubota gas riding mower) serviced. Eldest DD gave up trying to put the mowing belt back on, and I probably need to do...
I have an old strainer that, like YOU said, nobody else wanted. I think I have the wooden pestle somewhere. I wish I had the stand, too, but I have used it to strain out seeds.
I have canned my Concord grapes for YEARS, and good thing, bc I have lost most of my grapes. I bought a few more...
Finished yesterday, right before a t storm.
I have:
43 porcelain garlic
23 Red German garlic
at least 3 of the wonderful, "cannot kill" garlic that @flowerbug sent me. :love
:welcome from Central Illinois! Please be sure to put your general location, like "NV" with your avatar, bc once you start posting I will forget where you live.
Do you have any water restrictions against rain barrels?
Those books are quite a gift! I especially liked the one on grasses and white tailed deer, although I thought that you were too far west for white tailed, and more likely to see mule deer.
Checking in so that @digitS' doesn't go searching for me...
Been mowing and weeding, severe tending to my garlic, porcelain garlic, 43 of them, have been weeded, Preened, each given a paper bottom wrap from cut up paper grocery sacks, and straw strewn in between them.
WONDERFUL Mother's Day gift...
Started 11 zucchini seeds yesterday, which was one package worth. They are 5 seeds and 6 seeds in two small tree pots in the other fish tank downstairs, on a heat mat with a gro light. I also threw in some marigold seeds, for friendship. They should be up in a week.
Zucchini, like my black...
