Checked on the 2nd pepper/eggplant(s) seed starting. Seemed a bit wet, so I took off the cover. I may need to move the other peppers out of there to another heat mat/gro lamp down below on the first shelf.
This is the first year I have taken seed starting seriously. My Winter Sowing jugs are doing quite well, and I will be using jugs to start herbs, celery, broccoli and probably start my Fall Brussels Sprouts that way, too, since I could start them on the north side of the house if they need shade.
Not exactly sure about extracting the little seedlings, but I Will need to get the shallots and onions and the handful of leeks out soon to up pot. They are several inches tall but I'm afraid if I transplant them now they will dry out on me.
I must have about 50 little lettuce seedlings to deal with. I am considering moving them to pots on the front porch and letting them get to a good size before transplanting.
There is still a LOT of weeding to do!
My "salad bed" is awash with 1st year burdock!!!:somad:somad:somad
Guess I'll be taking a spade to it.
I bought a few more cheapo blue tarps to add to the 4 that I want to put down for a few weeks in my big garden bed.
Family is heading out to Billie Creek this afternoon. I will join them for a few hours tomorrow.
Last evening I was tasked with:
bread making--2 loaves
corn muffin making--packaged up
and
biscuit making.

I'm not sure about the taste of the biscuits. HOWEVER, I did use a "King Arthur Flour" recipe that called for 6 tablespoons of butter and I used 1/2 and 1/2 and I rolled them out and folded over 4x.
They look great.
I remade my grape jelly. I was using old pectin--something I won't do again.
I also added sugar and boiled the heck out of it for 90 minutes to reduce. Last jar was an incomplete pint, so I fridged it and it is jelling.
I am sending them with another full pint. 14 1/2 pints total + the extra.
By tomorrow morning it should be jelled for the biscuits to go with steak and eggs.
When they leave it's game to weed and mow and dump...
We'll see what I got done.

Started 11 zucchini seeds yesterday, which was one package worth. They are 5 seeds and 6 seeds in two small tree pots in the other fish tank downstairs, on a heat mat with a gro light. I also threw in some marigold seeds, for friendship. They should be up in a week.
Zucchini, like my black iris, have always been easy to grow for me.
DD's said they will take any extras.
I really had planned to start them 2 weeks ago--life got in the way, so I may look into other forms of anti squash vine borer intervention.

Oh no! I missed it! Somehow I thought it was later in the month, and it just this minute occurred to me that I needed to find out what the dates were. I’m pretty disappointed. DH was busy all last weekend and I was free to do whatever I wanted. (I mostly went yarn shopping! 🙉🙈🤑🙊)

ALL of the baking was a great success!
Middle DD joined the party. She fried up the cornbread in bacon grease.
Family said it was "to die for."
Gonna have to have my God Mower (Kubota gas riding mower) serviced. Eldest DD gave up trying to put the mowing belt back on, and I probably need to do it anyway. I hope to get it picked up before my trip, late next week, and then get it back early June.
I WAS THRILLED--the dealership is going to fix my pin problem for free, even manufacturing one to fit properly.
The guys that installed it improperly no longer work for them.
The employee that delivered my God Mower is going to come pick up both the mower and the tractor on Thursday, and we are also asking for an oil change and a check/fill on the hydraulic fluid.
At the time he walked me through how to use it, knowing full well that I have owned a riding mower before, but I got some really good advice. I am sure that my neighbors cannot understand where I count to 60 to idle it down, but I do this religiously bc he told me it was important.
I am looking forward to a bright future, where I can use the tractor bucket to move dirt and everything else.
Yes, I did drop the bomb about my age.
They will deliver both back here about a week after we get home from the Cruise.
I plan to go in pay for what we have ordered before the delivery.
