While fixing our dinner yesterday i found this Lady bug inside a head of Romaine, which is kinda common. We always soak the produce in a weak peroxide bath and drain before refrigerating then as i peel off the leaves for a meal i’ll rinse them again and this is when i found her. Well, i just...
I can agree with both camps on the neem thing. It does work well but it’s not my favorite product to use.
Several years ago i found this stuff which is actually a more highly refined neem. Still not my favorite thing to use because i dont care for the smell but it’s a whole lot easier to use...
With variances between +43f and -43f there’s something for everybody.🙄 We’re still hovering in the single digit minus nights with daytime temps no more than +10f. Suppose to change next week?

As a general rule, im a mostly, pretty much of the time, Thankful person. Not just on this day we choose to celebrate Thanksgiving!
To say “im thankful for our minus 5f weather today” might be stretching it though.
You don’t have to look very far to find someone with worse problems than your...
When i went out to re-load the bird feeder (for Thanksgiving) this little Red Breasted Nuthatch greeted me, not the least bit afraid! Makes me feel good to see the little birds actively working on the bones!
Some Alaskans are pretty amazing, i showed you this last year too!
“If your in the hood and need a bird” she’s your Gal!😊

Just another day at the Bird feeder!🙄
Now that he’s found it he may stick around; watching him and the Magpies harass each other is pretty cool.
This is an immature one and a first for us, we have had a couple Ravens in the past but usually just the usual Magpies, some woodpeckers and the...
Several years ago i realized just how short a time my stuff was in “starting mix” before being up potted into my regular grow mix. So i eliminated the starting mix because it never seemed all that great anyway; and for a couple years now when i start Anything, it’s in Roots Organic 707 “potting...
I doubt if you’d learn anything from a guy from Alaska; but welcome to the forum. I describe us as a big circus with lots of little “side shows”!
There is a lot to learn here and plenty of cordial folks, so enjoy yourself.
Mike
We kinda got our wires crossed a bit here; sorry. Im very much concerned that people are in a good place and strive to help every underdog i encounter!
I do however have a nack for saying what everyone else is thinking!
Many years ago a co-worker told me “Mike, your a social predator”. That evening i told my wife; babe ive found my lot in life; im a social predator. Doesn’t that sound cool; social predator?
She gave me the look and ask, do you even know what that meens?
I guess it was one of those things...
Loc-tite makes numerous cement repair solutions, ive had great sucess with several of them (magna-crete); all large doors in industrial shops where inward water flow was a constant problem. In all cases i trowled a smooth rounded ridge 6-8 inches wide and an inch tall across the opening. These...
I planted 5 originally, (in the spring) that fall i dug 2 out, gave one away and ground the other. The next spring i couldn't tell where the dug roots use to reside as every little broken off piece made a new plant. I feel confident that next spring i will have a Lot more plants.
Mine is in a...
Horseradish is invasive in Alaska; just like any where else!
I dug out all my plants last fall but have zero confidence that “it is gone”.
Even the smallest root bits grow back next year.
Yes, we usually have some cold now and again after the first of the year. Nothings consistent these days; we just deal with it and eagerly await spring.
