@Ridgerunner - I was aware they were male/female, but thanks for the helpful reminder just in case! We have about 18 seeds started now, so maybe there are females in there! We found this about determining the sex of them later on:

I've gotten into collecting wild "common persimmons" as of last year. There are a few huge, older trees out in the woods, and many other younger trees that are not putting on fruit yet. I have them timed to be putting on rip fruit right as the garden dies off. Our wildlife absolutely love them...
@baymule - Have you all had a chance to give your syrup a test? Your reply reminded me of the recipe, and I gave it another shot this year. We have very few vines here which is alright! I picked two cups worth, so I doubled the recipe. It gave me close to five half-pint jars! The house was...
Uploading images, including with dragging it into the message, is not working for Easy Garden of Sufficient Self at least for me. Says images are too large, no matter how small it is sized!
We planted our beans awhile back @murphysranch and I just wanted to share what they looked like back on the 16th. From what I've seen, every single one has come up (that's more than I can say for the store-bought zucchini, yellow squash, and "heirloom" okra from the hardware store)
EDIT: Well...
Makes me think about an article I read awhile back where a woman picked up this mangy, sickly and starving looking dog and brought it in a crate in her house to rehab it. When she went to take to shelter/vet or something like that, they realized it was a coyote.

@dewdropsinwv - I agree with others here on setting the food out and just giving it some time. Curious chickens will be wary, but go out first. The others will follow when they have time to realize it is safe!
Got two photos for you all I am so joyful to share! In the second one, if you open the thumbnail, you may be able to see the hummer's tiny little tongue sticking out after a drink!
@Ridgerunner Yes as a matter of fact it would be a blessing! I only have runner Purple Hulls right now so bush type would be a major help. I will PM you!
@canesisters - I read that book years back and loved it. Anything by Marguerite Henry really. People don't recognize her name but a horse lover will. Misty, Brighty, Five O' Clock Charlie, Born to Trot...love them all
@so lucky - I was in our outbuilding with the door open working Monday or so when a Ruby-Throat flew into the building, got directly in my face and hovered, then left. My Grandmother used to always tell me "The hummingbirds will come get you when they want food" and he sure did. So I filled up...
I have an older post for heirloom birdhouse gourds seeds, but found myself with an over-abundance of them and wanted to just give some away or trade for other heirlooms. There are some pictures in my older post in this forum section/exchange.
Would anyone like 10 - 25 or so of the seeds? Also...
Catching up on my photo posting here- also, I'm not good with some of the names of the flowers I take photos of, but I do like to capture how beautiful they are. If anyone can help put a name to a flower, I would be very grateful!
March 28th - These beautiful little flowers are growing wild...
