We make our cages like yours but we still have to put a green fence post on both sides to hold it up because the plant gets so thick and heavy.

I don't know how far into Louisana you are but it's suppose to be really cold and wet here in central Arkansas. I would get some straw to put over it to keep the ground warm.

My daughter is doing a science project. Which fertilizer works best goat, rabbit, chicken, horse, cow, commercial or none. We are trying to grow corn. So far horse is winning with the worst tie at chicken and commercial.

I think it would be so much easier than on your hands and knees digging for potatoes like we did when I was a kid. We planted spring and fall potatoes and I hated digging potatoes.
I would think you could put plastic on the ground to catch the material and then recycle it.
