    Pea help???

Hey wifezillia, my peas just started flowering last week (Fri) and some of them are very tall also, I think it may be our cooler and wetter than usual season and your good duck compost, they were just enjoying the extended grow time. I have some volunteer pea plants in the south garden and...

What have you learned from this years garden?

Patience--that has been the biggest lesson this year. Squishing cutworms is really kinda fun. Greenhouses are not for growing plants during the summer  As soon as I decide those cuke seeds I planted arent't coming up and I plant more the first ones all pop up

    Everything is slowly dying...

I'm so sorry to hear about your garden. Mother Nature can be a real pain sometimes. It is depressing after all the hard work you put in. My gardens dried out pretty well and some pole beans are popping up, so keep some hope. I'll be sending you warm, dry sunny thoughts... :coolsun :coolsun...

Oh-Oh so much for green prairie, cool toads and new watering hole

Well we have water now and a new meter. When they turned the water back on there was so much pressure it broke the filler up thingamijiggy(I'm very good with technical terms :gig) in one of the toilets. But other than that and the huge hole still on the corner of the property, things are good...

Oh-Oh so much for green prairie, cool toads and new watering hole

As some of you may have seen in my post on another thread we here in CO have had a challenging spring this year. While I've not been really pleased with the cold temps, late snows, cutworms, hail and torrential downpours, I have tried to look on the bright side, the prairie is green and...

Not a good year for vegetable gardening

Hi all Went out to the gardens this morning and all is not lost by a long shot. Since the taters havent bloomed yet I should be ok there (I think) and the maters were of course protected by walls o water although some of the tops that were poking out are stripped by the hail. The bush beans...

Not a good year for vegetable gardening

Thanks wifezillia, but I think I'm good on seeds. There has just been so much water and no I can't raise it now as the worst area is roughly 400 sq ft, I have been trying to rearrange the dirt (mud) but don't like to be in there when it is so wet, compacting issues and disease spread issues...

Not a good year for vegetable gardening

I do think about what it must have felt like in years gone by to know that winter may be looking really bleak at this point. Greensage, it was like that when we had the drought here, you could see the rain and lighting and hope it got close enough to do something but it would go away usually...

Not a good year for vegetable gardening

Thank you for all the sweet thoughts. I'm trying to stay positive, because there just isn't anything you can do about the weather gotta roll with the punches or the hail.... Gardengirl- watermelons??

Well I'm glad to know my melons aren't the only ones not doing anything. We have had alot of rain and cool temps, the rain is great but we could use some warmth, it is still down in the 40's at night. I think I'll try to come up with some kind of mini greenhouse, maybe I'll try cutting plastic...

    Something is eating my taters!!

Sounds like flea beetles, did they jump? I don't know if De will work on them if your plants are good size chances are they probably won't do enough damage to make a difference, the plants just won't look real good.
