    Coop....

Insulation works to Cool in summer as well as retain heat in winter so yes, it would be a good idea to insulate unless you are putting in Central Air?? ;) Your winter temps aren't low enough that they need winter insulation, but your summer temps can be deadly. Insulation is becoming expensive...

    Chicks! (New picture)

Chilling sounds possible. If the temperature went down below their comfort zone, it could happen. Or dehydration if they hadn't been drinking. Difficult sometimes to know what happened. Sorry for your loss.

    The hummingbird arrival...

And always remember to let the water cool before filling a plastic feeder, or you may end up with one that leaked even though it never did before. ;) Not that I would know this from personal experience or anything :P I now have a glass tube....

    Prayer Request

If you lose power again while incubating, do not open the incubator. Instead, cover it with towels to hold the heat in and resist all temptation to look. I just saw your post about losing humidity in an incubator, but the pic of Hyram looks awfully wet for having hatched earlier in the day? Or...

My first pepper harvest of 2012

Hot cherry peppers are very popular where I live. They are the ones we see most at Farmer's Markets. I bet home raised ones are very tasty. I think I will try to raise them in 2013.

Regrets: wish I'd never planted that.....

Tomatillos. Granddaughter loved the Salsa but I told her next time she wants Salsa Verde she best go shopping for it. All those little pods...billions of seeds....I planted a 50 foot row of plants. We've since sold the farm, I bet those things have taken over the entire 50 acres by now, LOL

My first pepper harvest of 2012

I tried Marconis two or three years and never had germination. Mind you, the seed were all from the same source. Sometimes, if possible, obtaining new seed from a different source is all that is needed to be successful. You can try another year. Meanwhile, enjoy your success in 2012. :)

Do you forage in the city?

There are similar groups in my area as well. I am on the pickers list for both of them. Some fruit/produce is sent entirely to the food banks, other times it is shared equally between the property owner, the pickers and the foodbank. Examples of picks include pears, apples, tomatoes, grapes...
