today i hope to get back to some weeding in the higher garden spots that won't be too muddy.
the garden i'm working on needs several yards of dirt moved and i have a good spot for that garden soil to go, but i need to weed that other spot before...
one project always gets into others. gladly...
the heavy rains the other day sure did cause some bean plant damage and the gardens don't look the best right now but i suspect in another week or two it won't end up being the end of the world...
the most delicate roses i ever had (as a kid i tried to grow them and often had to replant - but the neighborhood ladies were always happy to have whatever extra blooms i could harvest) did the best in an eastern bed in front of the house so it was protected from the hottest part of the day, but...
it is, the bees always loved those flowers and it wasn't hard to maintain, it will now cost me a lot more time and effort to deal with that edge.
the upside though is that i won't ever have to deal with trying to remove it as the smell of chive roots is one of those things that makes me rather...
unfortunately i have no experience with growing this cabbage or for that matter almost all of the rest of them either. i suppose you could remove some or even most of them and leave a few to see what happens?
raining cats and dogs here, this line of this storm is very narrow but it's right on us and has been for a while.
also had a very close strike with lightning that surprised me, usually i have the computer shut down if it gets thunder and lightning. so this power backup and surge protector unit...
sunny and nice morning out there. :) wish my body could go some more hours. weeding and progress happened, sunshine absorbed, birdies listened to.
we have a new toy for chopping stuff down, an electric motor that we can put other things on. it came with the string trimmer attachment but we...
tincture (alcohol of your favorite type mixed with the herbs at their prime potency of the scent(s) you like :) ) or an extract (non-alcoholic and likely more involved).
yesterday when mowing noticed how many weeds were in the large place i call The Flood Plain that should have been noticed and removed some time ago, but Mom has been busy and so have i... she did say some time ago that she weeded this area and that also meant I would not spend much time looking...
at last the beekeeping people removed their carpeting and metal barrel from our property so i can get that area taken care of and i won't have to worry about disturbing the hives. they did put about a dozen hives in another area that doesn't block access to the back part of our lot.
@heirloomgal i don't prune our tomato plants either. i figure the plant knows what it is doing much more than i will ever know so let it rip and so far we keep getting plenty of production.
re: wind burn, this is the first year i have seen this sort of damage. not enough to stop any plants from growing but i was wondering if it was too much well water or wood ashes. certainly the recent rains have vastly improved every garden.
