so lucky, i agree with yo 100%! my grandfather (pap) , told me a long time ago to keep my mouth shut and my ears open. took me a few years but i have figured out what he was ment exactly. ( he was also famous for saying "watch and learn" when the question "why?" can out of my mouth).

yes i do have a pressure canner, a lady i work with used to have a huge garden and can all kinds of stuff when her husbond passed away it was too much for her to do on her own so she sold alot of her equipment. i picked up a pre4ssure canner (7 quart) has a new gage on it and shaker for $40.00...
have so many cucumbers so i decided i would try my luck at pickels this past weekend . 11 quarts , some dill and some bread and butter, every jar sealed ..WOW... i really thought it would be harder , but if you follow the directions it really isn't . i also picked 6 ears of corn from my garden...
mine would have to be my 4 wheeler and small dump trailer, (since i don't "YET" have a tractor). and of course the impliments i built for it to prepare gorund for planting . dragging stuff is alot easier than trying to keep a tiller at bay.
my plan is to make vegetable soup with all the fresh vegetables i get from my garden and then can it . that way when its cold in winter , i can have fersh veggies from MY garden. we will see how it goes , but im definately going to try it.

hi, im new to this site but am fimaliar with BYC, i was wondering how you keep the things you pick fresh until you are ready to use them, for example, i picked about a half serving of green beans last evening and am hoping to have the other half by tomorrow . how do i keep these beans and such...
