the phrase, "rinse, repeat" seems very fitting for this time of the year. high humidity, a lot of rain (more in the forecast for today) and day after day. i don't mind the heat as long as my body can tolerate it - i get a bit better each day but i'm not pushing it too hard as i sure don't want...
@heirloomgal i would think that high up that it was groundhog damage because i rarely have any cutworms around here (just a few once in a great while).
still trying to get things done interspersed with fixings needed and other issues.
today i did plant some late Purple Dove beans in the parts of the garden i'm working on and had ready. there's plenty more yet to do.
rains on the way.
things broken i can't repair now include car stereo cd...
we're about to get some more rains here.
i just planted Purple Dove beans in what i had ready of the garden i'm working on. hoped to have the rest of this half planted but now doesn't look like it.
@Marie2020 pretty muggy here today already again and rain looks like it will be here soon too. i did get something done outside but not nearly as much as i'd hoped. tomorrow will be another day.
i wonder if they are a tomato geared towards dryland production? having low growing and compact plants may be a great help under arid and hot conditions.
my guess is vascular collapse from warm weather and the plant roots can't keep up with the demand. it is sudden.
this year i'm getting a lot more raiding from a likely groundhog but as of yet i've not been able to see it out there at all. most of the bean plants now that remain are big enough...
that's the thing with regular rains you get a lot more weeds. i have no idea where most of these weed seeds are coming from because i do normally keep the gardens pretty well taken care of but this year you'd think i'd never weeded at all. purslane all over the place... i have a week or two...
it doesn't either. :) you're welcome.
as for yellows we've had them here at times through the years but i don't know if we have any now. once the rust came through we didn't get very good crops any more of them. there's a few around here or there still but i don't go out of my way to plant...
peas will get cooked and eaten this evening, i also have some green onions, but i'll ask Mom to see if she wants them along with the pea pods or in a different bowl before i cook them. she may want them for a chow mien or for pasta salad.
it's rather sad to do a search on this forum and not find any mentions of Keyline Design.
the overall issue with many earthworks though and any larger system is that you should understand the limits so that you don't design something that will be subject catastrophic failures. i think many...
when weeding yesterday (well now two days ago) i had some kind of bee or fly following me around (and i don't mean just for a few moments - but for about an hour and a half) and landing on my gardening gloves to get something (perhaps salt or moisture but the gloves weren't soaked wet it was...
cut around the bottom along with the slices down the sides. just leave the bottom as it is and dig it up in the fall to remove it. pull the sides out after planting like you describe. the plant will root out sideways ok at that depth and from what i've seen of your garden soils i think it...
for us (because we only plant the same type if we can get them) i've found that early stressed plants produce more BER fruits first - after the plants are established and growing well then the fruits are usually then fine until towards the end of the season.
we have a combination of issues...
