wow, i've never seen that here on any of the puddles around the house after a rain. two sets of shingles (so far). any roof leaks that needed patching? source of barrels? mosquito dunks or mosquito sprays? skin lotions? still i think a small bit like that won't be enough to really harm plants.

yesterday i was very happy to see some baby toads. they are so very cute! :) today i saw a tiny baby snake - also very cute. :) not sure what kind of snake it was as i didn't get very close. perfect day to be outside. it was actually somewhat cool (compared to yesterday) and a nice...

new shingles? perhaps a bit of a concern at first but after they've been on for a while and through some rains that doesn't bother me. i'm sure we get a lot more contamination from things brought in on the winds (dusts from farm fields and various sprays). If there had been a long hot and dry...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

we've had one of those dark clematis before, i'm not sure we still have it as i've not walked that side of things recently... i tend to get very task oriented and don't wander around looking for problems often because no matter what garden i'm in i can find things that need more attention than...

@heirloomgal i'm not sure those plants are infected as it looks maybe more like either heat stress or some other issue. they don't look mottled or mosaic to me... could it be some other disease? sure, but it would not be one i would worry about here. mainly because i have poor enough soil in...

as expected the new toy is not something that Mom will be able to use reliably. we will try the string trimmer attachment next to see if Mom will use it (i bet not as long as i'm around to do it instead) and if so i will have to content myself with picking up bits of plastic string the rest of...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

today i hope to get back to some weeding in the higher garden spots that won't be too muddy. the garden i'm working on needs several yards of dirt moved and i have a good spot for that garden soil to go, but i need to weed that other spot before... one project always gets into others. gladly...

the heavy rains the other day sure did cause some bean plant damage and the gardens don't look the best right now but i suspect in another week or two it won't end up being the end of the world...

tobacco can also be a source of viral infections for the mosaic viruses and those can end up infecting bean plants. :(
