you will need fences if there are deer around. and chipmunks love raiding the seeds/seedlings. once they know you grow them... just a warning from experience.
@SPedigrees no, the last bits of lawn left are around the outside edges of all the gardens and decorations and i rarely water anything that far away (including the lawn itself - we get enough rains and if we don't i let it go dormant).

i did get the onions lifted yesterday and dried off a bit and then the dirt wiped off before putting into some boxes and brought into the garage. i'll need to rotate them at least once a day so they can properly cure without rotting - i don't have any place to hang them.
