annoying twits on the internet - say it ain't so!?
after Eternal September (when AOL came up) it hasn't really ever been the same. before then the internet and mailing lists were kinda the domain of the computer nerds and universities and while it was never pristine it also wasn't a huge...
perhaps it's just a reference to the curly hair of the Northern Italians (and like in our case the curly red hair)? :) i dunno. always interesting these beanos... :)
washed windows outside and a few other maintenance kinds of things.
temperature going up instead of staying reasonable so i better get the mowing done tomorrow.
well at least i didn't wake up at 3:30am :) 20 quarts i'll have to get out of the oven and get them marked and put into cases this morning when i do get moving. Friday already! week went by fast.
yesterday when picking i needed a snack so i was munching on a fresh tomato in the garden. for some reason in the past i've not normally done that much at all other than for cherry tomatoes (which we don't grow any longer). it was sunwarmed and delicious.
at the moment i've finished rinsing...
i don't watch tv, that avoids a lot of useless drama and political BS. i also don't listen to the radio or check the news on the internet very often (once a day or so). i do check the weather forecast once in a while. the phone i check some days and have to have it by me for certain times but...
picked most of the rest of the tomatoes today (about 100lbs aka 5 buckets, discarded 1 bucket worth as they were spotted or rotting down from the stem).
a few are still out there but i don't plan on doing any more canning after we get these processed - we're out of jars and i'm quite ok calling...
i follow what is happening at various salt lakes just because water and life are interesting to me and how humans can change things. Mono Lake is one of them:

it's a sensitive issue because in order to do it sustainably you have to know the recharge rate over time and geology can be complex. if you have too many people sucking up all the groundwater then you have wells going dry and eventually people won't be able to irrigate crops or gardens. many...
finished another batch of tomato canning last night. 12 quarts.
today will be warmer, mid-to-high 70s, pretty much the rest of the week too into the low 80s again.
no rains, i'll do some watering today and tomorrow.
