In my war against burdock, I rented this machine that mowed them down.
Great!
I didn't clean them up and created a small Forest of them the next year!!!
Finally, some rain, could use a LOT more...praying for favor that Friday, when the forecast has been rain, no rain, turns out to be a good tstorm with some pounding water!!!
Picked up my Lowe's order, which included an attachment to the hot water faucet that the new dishwasher needs to operate. DOES fit, but there is an aerator?...not sure what to do with it, but I will put that issue off until early next week.
Finished dehydrating tomatoes and added the one...
While I wait for my new dishwasher--October 15th--I am missing the top of the old one, which has been an extra countertop for me. I pulled up a round table from the basement for party staging--even got a compliment for doing so from youngest DD!
I have another old table that is full of old...
Serrano peppers and the jar will be gifted to my good friends who started the Salsa Parties with me. They love hot peppers, but I don't think they planted any this year.
The dehydrated tomatoes go to my middle DD. She hasn't grown that many tomatoes, has been hot water bath canning this year...
Today I went through the tomatoes I picked a few days ago. Family Wants tomatoes to eat, but doesn't Always eat them, and I don't want them to rot, So...I harvested from my meager tomato patch and I have them dehydrating. One of my Marconi Sweet Peppers looked like it might be past it soon, so...
The University of Illinois is probably WRONG!!!! I am 30 miles south, zone 6 and I have Never had a rosemary survive MY winter.
They are pipe dreaming....
OK...looked it up Stark Bros sells it.

I took an accounting and I still have 50 quarts of canned tomatoes in the downstairs pantry. I think that will us through the winter, since I am doubtful that there will be an additional canning this year...alTHOUGH I did can 4 pints for DD last week...might happen again. We are heading up to...
Tomatoes that I grew/canned in 2022, pulverized jalepanoes that I harvested in 2019 and dehydrated, and sweet peppers that I harvested this morning, in tonight's chili.
I really like perennials bc they are NO CARE, like iris, tulips, daffodills, day lillies and roses.
The other ones I have become interested in are the wildflowers that I planted that keep coming back, drought or no drought, like larkspur, black eyes susans, echinacea and yarrow.
My favorite tv knee replacement convalescence channel this year has been CSPAN2, weekend, BookTv and history lecture series. I can lay in bed, half asleep, or working in my bedroom closet and listen and learn.
I have been especially interested in Revolutionary War history, what with ALL of the...
I harvested ALL of the Serrano peppers in the whiskey barrel planter, more in the tomato planter by the side door, cut them and I am now dehydrating them. Dunno how you'all do YOUR prep work, but next to the sink by the coffee maker is My preferred spot.
I used gloves to protect my eyes...
I tried zinnias, twice, basil seeds twice--NOTHING grew in this pot next to the whiskey barrel, then...basil sprouted. I also sprouted one nasturtium there. I plan to overwinter this pot in my 2nd floor south facing upstairs office this winter. Since I never Did open the windows there, and I...
I thought that all of the mums in my front walkway bed were dead, but one survived, a rust one. I bought Almost past it purple and yellow mums at Lowe's--box stores don't hire Anybody in their garden center who can tell shXt from shinola--all that they needed was repotting and water. Their...
Joy is having gathered so many garden supplies for MY needs that my Fall gardening job is to organize them and store them for the 2026 season!! :woot:woot:woot
I am SO Glad that I bought tomatoes and peppers from local guy who gardens almost his entire yard in a town nearby. I Thought that the long peppers were Jalepanoes, but now I know that they are Marconi sweet peppers--I remember the labels, and I am growing several in different pots. I have...
