Cleared two of the 12 ft tomato fences of weeds and harvested--pictures later on my thread. Also tied up sprawling tomatoes. We have 3-4 weeks left for tomatoes to ripen before the 1st possible frost.
I also potted up the clearance mums and threw in some seeds in planters for a lst shot.

Just wanna say, PLEASE train your dogs to sit by your side, in the case that a criminal breaks in. They WILL kill your dog First.
I KNOW this would be the case with my two GSD's bc police use them and Melinois AND Dobermans.
I want a criminal who...
I once germinated (but left the seedlings to dry out), 35yo (family) tomato seeds.
Older seeds can be viable BUT they will take longer to germinate, so be patient.
ALWAYS worth a try, but you need to be a Good seed babysitter!
As I understand it weeds can be very helpful AS LONG AS you don't let them go to seed and spread uncontrolled.
Their deep roots bring up nutrients in the soil, you can make compost tea (sans weed seeds) to fertilize your crops and flowers, some weeds are those you make peace with simply bc...
BTW, to my GB and Canadians friends here, I recently learned that Daniel Webster, in his efforts to simplify English spelling to be simpler and more phonetic, wrote an American Dictionary in which he changed the spelling of no Fewer than 100 words, including "humour" to "humor", "colour" to...

Finally got a small harvest of 13 medium sized tomatoes from my big garden. I added 2 more from the pot next to the house and DH and I had salad with onions, tomatoes and tunafish for dinner.
I used broth to make a roast one week ago and couldn't pass up the opportunity to make MORE broth.
Poot puppies had to smell this all week, as I am taking them out at 3AM and not getting enough sleep to finish the pressure canning. It was still bubbling when I took the 5 jars out to cool.

Yesterday puppies and I took a field trip to the south side of the big garden. I harvested 13 medium sized tomatoes there and 2 more from the pot by the house.
I have read about various ways to plant your tomatoes:
1) transplant them like a tree, hole big enough for the roots, stem just above...
I removed and transferred the label for this plant, WITH care instructions on a scan code. It had enough glue to stick to my ceramic blue pot. You can see that I Could have divided this--later...
This is a hybrid aloe. I liked it bc it has a blue tinge AND I pulled off a short pup With roots...
Bigger store is the LOWE's wanted me to jump through hoops to collect on a measly $10 "rewards" (from a >$3K appliances purchase).
I printed the information out today so that next week I can go back and get them to give me my rewards.
Customer service has become nonexistent at many box stores...
Went to LOWE's Thursday, didn't quite find what I wanted. I have a stump of a tree that is fairly tall, and a wild raspberry is growing around it, about 7 ft tall now. I left it growing bc when you back up in our driveway towards to barn, you might hit the stump.
I was looking for the same as...

MEANWHILE, there IS some gardening going on at Duck's place...
I have been harvesting both...
I really like my Knockout Yellow Rose. Smells luscious and mine survived massive bindweed invasion this Spring, then bounced back. Will bloom until frost.
